Dallas born-and-raised Jazzmeia Horn is not just a vocalist, or even just a musician, she’s a trailblazer. As the first woman in the history of music to arrange, produce, write, sing, and record a big band album, Horn’s aspirations are anything but small. Speaking with KEXP’s Larry Mizell Jr., she goes into the hard work it took to manage such a big project as well her prophesied beginnings. The project of German musician Marius Lauber, Roosevelt makes music ripe for escapism. KEXP’s Troy Nelson takes us through a detailed account of Lauber’s evolution from drumming in the teen indie-dance band Beat!Beat!Beat! to honing his own electronic-infused sound for Roosevelt.  Their latest record, Polydans, was released in 2021 and is available on Greco-Roman records and Bandcamp.
