S13E68 Euro 2024: The Morning After the Night Before - Hungary
24/06/2024 Duración: 27minSadly it's the last of our Morning After the Night Before podcasts and this one feels like the most painful of hangovers as Scotland bow out of Euro 2024 following an agonising 1-0 defeat to Hungary. John B is joined by Robert McCahill and Kevin Donnelly and we simply go over what went wrong. What tactics should've been deployed, were the substitutions too late and predictable, why we only had 17 shots on goal in three matches? The biggest question is is Steve Clarke's time up? So many questions to be asked. We end on a positive by rounding up what the tournament meant to us and here's hoping we get to another major tournament soon. S13E67 Euro 2024: The Morning After the Night Before - Switzerland
20/06/2024 Duración: 37minIt's the second instalment of our Morning After the Night Before series as the two John's, Dave and Charlie review our result and performance against Switzerland. Not that it would've been difficult but it was a more positive vibe from the Germany review, and the lads almost have a glass half empty/half full approach as we debate whether or not it was a point gained or two dropped. We also discuss our chances of victory on Sunday, victory which surely would be enough to see us progress to the knockout stages for the first time ever. S13E66 Euro 2024: The Morning After the Night Before – Germany
15/06/2024 Duración: 33minThe moment we've all been waiting for since the Euro 2024 draw was made. Germany v Scotland, the opening game in Munich, the whole world watching, the Tartan Army in full voice - and Scotland didn't turn up! John B, Josh and author Neil Doherty face the music from their respective locations within Munich to disect on what went wrong as the Germans turned on a fine display against a Scotland side who looked as spooked as rabbits in the headlights. They also look back at what it was like before the horror show in the Allianz Arena and we try to look forward to the Switzerland game, which remains the biggest match in the group. Is our tournament over after one match or can we still make history and get through to the knockout stages? What's certain is that we need to play a damn sight better than we did in Munich!! S13E62 Rangers' Cup Double and Scotland's Israel Double
31/05/2024 Duración: 27minDave is joined by Clare Gemmell to review last weekend's Scottish Cup final which saw Rangers win the competition for the first time and complete a League Cup and Scottish Cup double. The final is discussed in the context of a season that saw Rangers denied a possible treble only on goal difference behind Celtic, with just two defeats in the league all season and one of those came away to their fellow cup finalists Hearts. With attention now turning to the Nations League and Scotland's double header, Dave and Clare discuss the call ups and how the team might fare first at home to Israel behind closed doors, and then away to Israel in a game being played in Hungary. Finally, there's a brief chat with Celtic captain Kelly Clark discussing her call up to the squad, recorded prior to clinching the title. 24/05/2024 Duración: 59minWith the SWPL title wrapped up in dramatic style for the second year running, and a Scottish Cup final to look forward to this Sunday at Hampden, Dave is once more joined by Eva Murray to discuss all things in women's Scottish football. Before the title celebrations, there was a huge midweek that saw Celtic beat Hearts 3-1, and Dave caught up with Elena Sadiku and Kelly Clark after that match for their thoughts on what could happen at Celtic Park. There is a bit more from Elena after Sunday's drama, along with her team gatecrashing the interview! Eva gives us her view on how things played out at Broadwood on Sunday as Rangers came agonisingly close to regaining the title, before turning focus on champions Celtic. Hibernian and Hearts both played their parts, with the latter still with hopes for the Scottish Cup knowing they were one of two teams to beat Rangers in the league this season. Further down the league, there was just a single point between the bottom two with Hamilton losing out and Dundee U

S13E56 Euro 2000 and 2004 Throwback
10/05/2024 Duración: 01h18minThe countdown continues for this year's European Championship, so whilst in past years we've seen tournaments take place without Scotland and we've thrown back to those that we were at, here we've flipped the script as Steve Clarke and co can tell their own story this summer! John Bl is joined by Krys and Scott to look back at Euro 2000 and Euro 2004, two tournaments that Scotland missed out on the playoffs - so yes we touch on those as well! At Euro 2000, we had possibly the strongest lineup of semi finalists you're ever likely to see, and a host of the best players that football had to offer at the time all turning up and turning on there style. And of course there was the dramatic ending to the tournament with how the final went. At Euro 2004, there was the emergence of young talent like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, shocks from the opening game to the final itself - although is it a shock if the same thing happens to the same teams in both? And Krys gets to gush about Henrik Lars

There is chat too about lack of youth getting their chance in the league but praise for the likes of Airdrie, Dunfermline and Queen's Park who are bucking the trend. To round up the episode we make predictions on who will be well placed for next season and who was the best manager in the Championship. Good luck to all the teams in the playoffs. It was the Czech Republic’s first campaign since the separation of Czechoslovakia in 1993 and they won a tight qualification group ahead of Netherlands and Norway to reach the Finals. Their fighting spirit saw them recover from an opening match defeat to Germany to progress ahead of Italy and Russia, before Karel Poborsky’s improvised lob saw off Portugal in the last eight then a dramatic penalty shootout win over France saw them unexpectedly reach the Final. The Germans, meanwhile, were expected to bring the trophy back to their homeland and qualified with minimum fuss, dropping just five point

18/04/2024 Duración: 53minThe countdown is on for this years European Championship, and to get you in the mood we are going back 28 years to relive Euro '96. In the third of this four-part series, John B looks at the fortunes of Portugal and Netherlands by speaking to PortuGOAL creator Tom Kundert and Dutch football expert at Flashscore Finley Crebolder. Having been knocking on the door for a place at Euro ‘92 and USA ‘94, Portugal strolled to qualification and with the talents of Luis Figo and Rui Costa they were considered a dark horse for the tournament. However, despite winning their group with seven points from three games, they came unstuck against Czech Republic in the Quarter Finals. Meanwhile, the Dutch endured a difficult route to England, where they needed a playoff victory against Republic of Ireland to secure their place, and then they scraped into the last eight on goal difference ahead of Scotland before a penalty shootout defeat to France ended their hopes of success.
