S12E28 Suzanne Winters Wonderland
09/12/2022 Duración: 01h17minThis weekend is another landmark moment in the Scottish Women's game as Rangers and Hibernian meet at Tynecastle in the Final of the SWPL Cup, now of course known as the Sky Sports Cup Final thanks to their recent investment. In line with this, John B is joined by current Sky Sports pundit and 104 capped ex-Scotland international Suzanne Winters (aka Suzanne Grant from her playing career). Suzanne previews the big game and the significance of Sky's investment into the Women's game up here before elaborating on her role with the broadcaster. We then go onto talk about her playing career, where she made her international debut at 16 BEFORE making a club appearance. After starting out at local clubs Ross County and Inverness, Suzanne moved onto Glasgow City and her playing career would take her through Hibs, Arsenal, Celtic and Motherwell before retiring from a knee injury in 2017. She talks about the joys of each club she played for as well as highlighting challenges that she faced, including how a meeting bet

S12E27 Ronaldo's Redemption
02/12/2022 Duración: 01h21minIn this final World Cup throwback for the time being, John B, Krys and Scott get together once more. With the current World Cup taking place in Asia, the guys look back to the first Asian World Cup as Japan and South Korea hosted in 2002. This was the start of Scotland's long absence, so there's a brief look back at what went wrong for our national side on this particular occasion. Krys had other interest with both Republic of Ireland and Poland qualifying for the tournament - to mixed success it has to be said. There's a number of stories across this World Cup, from the fortunes of the two hosts - the first time and so far only time that a World Cup has been shared - to the beginning of the curse of the holders was well as a few more surprise packages in between. There is, of course, time to reminisce about England's exit and the return of a seven year old joke in the process. But the story of this World Cup comes down to one of redemption. No, not David Beckham, but the original Ronaldo. Maybe not redemp

S12E26 Say It With Pride
27/11/2022 Duración: 01h10minIt's another World Cup throwback as John B, Krys and Scott get together to discuss their first time. Fortunately it's Italia 90 they're discussing though.Chatting through a Scotland qualifying campaign none of them actually remember, there's a brief chat about the mixed warm up schedule prior to the tournament before everyone of course remembers the opening game against Costa Rica. In typical Scotland fashion, they give themselves a chance with a win over Sweden, before achieving the usual glorious failure against Brazil. The guys also look over the rest of the tournament, with some truly iconic moments and merchandise and a few well loved kits as well. For a tournament so often remembered for its poor final, it's clear why Italia 90 is still loved to this day - and not just because you really do always remember your first time.Music: Say It With Pride by the Scotland World Cup Squad and Friends, and Nessun Dorma by Luciano PavarottiThanks to our Fantasy Football Scotland league sponsors Supernova Terracewear

Next up is the "Petershill derby" between Partick Thistle and Glasgow City, with Vinny promoting what's on offer for a family funday as well as the prospect of an exciting game between 5th and 2nd in the league. The only non-derby of the day is between Spartans and Glasgow Women, but this is no less significant than any other game this weekend with both sides looking to kick-start their respective seasons after a difficult opening ten games. Matt explains his thinking behind the structure of the book, which covers off a number of story threads from the behind the scenes structuring journey of the American hosts to the team themselves, through the various nations involved including the shocks scoreline and the shock headlines. S12E22 European Reflection
08/11/2022 Duración: 01h14minOn our latest podcast, regulars John, Josh and Scott J are joined by Connor and Graeme who are both making their first appearances. We reflect on a European campaign where three Scottish teams got in to the group stages for the first time since 2007/08. Hearts took part in the European Conference group stages for the first time and that is where we start the discussion with Graeme reflecting on what could have gone better. Can Hearts qualify again next season and establish themselves as the third force in Scotland? There is also chat around where they need to strengthen the squad. We move on to Celtic and whether they are too naive in Europe as Ange refuses to compromise on his football philosophy. They received plaudits at times for the way they performed but couldn't get any wins. Rangers suffered the embarrassment of being the worst team in the group stages of the Champions League with questions surrounding GVB future as they struggle domestically. Josh reflects on what went wrong in Europe and we disc

He's joined by Krys who watched the action having just left school (yes it's that long ago), and Kevin who actually got to France in the summer if 1998. Recapping the qualification process that took Scotland to the position of best runner-up and avoiding the playoffs, the guys reminisce of Scotland's home games being on tour as they seemed to be several times during the 90s, as well as crucial results in places like Minsk, Riga and that time there was one team in Tallinn. Moving onto the finals themselves, there was the initial reaction to the draw that means Scotland would open the tournament in Paris against the holders Brazil. It was then onto Bordeaux to face Norway before finishing the group in St Etienne against Morocco. The guys chat through each match of the group and their memories of not just the games themselves but the adventures along the w

S12E19 Spain '82 Throwback
20/10/2022 Duración: 49minWorld Cup 2022 is four weeks away. As Scotland fans, we don't care, so let's do what we've been good at for the last 24 years and look back at a time we made them regularly! In this episode, John B is joined by fellow author Tom Brogan to recall Scotland's fortunes at Spain '82. Tom wrote a book on the subject titled "We Made Them Angry" in reference to David Narey's toepoke against Brazil. Tom goes through the process of his book and the inspiration behind writing about a tournament he watched as a ten year old with his Dad. We then go into detail about how Scotland got to Spain, the pre-tournament hype, the greatest Scotland football song "We Have A Dream" and onto recalling the three games that saw Scotland exit on goal difference for the third World Cup in succession. We wish Tom all the best with his book sales, "We Made Them Angry" is a fascinating read, not just for Tartan Army footsoldiers either. S12E18 We SWoNT Be Going Down Under
13/10/2022 Duración: 53minOn this episode, John B is joined by Vinny and Krys to go over the Women's World Cup playoffs which sadly ended Scotland's hopes of reaching their third major tournament and second World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand next year. Having narrowly beaten Austria after extra time in the first round, the second round against Republic of Ireland was a bridge too far. We reflect on both games, asking the questions of what did and didn't work both individually and as a team, as well as thinking over how Hampden is working as the home venue for the SWNT. Looking forward, we look at the possible hosts for Euro 2025 and discuss if there will be any changes to the squad with players retiring from international football or making the step up from the under-19s. We finish off with a look forward to a return to club duty and discuss this weekend's SWPL1 fixtures. S12E15 SWNT Playoff Preview
30/09/2022 Duración: 45minIt's a big week ahead for the Scotland Women's National Team as they look to take a giant step towards qualification for a second consecutive World Cup Finals, being held in Australia and New Zealand next summer. John B is joined by four special guests with a fountain of knowledge of the Women's game - Chris Marshall, Amy Canavan, Jane Lewis and Emma Black - to assess our chances of defeating Austria in the European Playoff Semi Final on Thursday 6 October, then Republic of Ireland on 11 October. Fortunately, we have been given two home games at Hampden that increases our chances of victory enormously, albeit against two tough sides, particularly the Austrians who were Quarter Finalists at this summers Euro's. We look at the transition under Head Coach Pedro Martinez Losa, analyse the 25-player squad, assess the opposition and what we need to do to win the games. Chris also best explains the complex playoff route that will likely see Scotland facing an Intercontinental playoff scenario in New Zealand in Feb
