We bring to you the October 2016 speaker from the Whitechapel Society 1888 meeting in London. Professor Clive Bloom presents a talk focusing on the 1901 Icelandic version of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' which was largely rewritten by Valdemar Asumunsson and will be published for the first time in English this December under the title 'Powers of Darkness: The Lost Version of Dracula', translated and annotated by Hans Corneel De Roos. <p> www.whitechapelsociety.com

The first speaker for Day Two of the conference was Professor Clive Emsley, author of 'The Great British Bobby: A History of British Policing from the 18th Century to the Present'/

The first speaker of Day One at the conference was Drew Gray, author of the book 'London's Shadows: The Dark Side of the Victorian City'. Gray spoke on 'Policing Whitechapel: The Role of the Thames Police Court in the 1880s'.

The second speaker on Day One was Maxim Jakubowski, the editor of the classic 'Mammoth Book of Jack the Ripper' and the newly released 'Mammoth Book of Jack the Ripper Stories'.

The third speaker on Day One was Chris Payne, author of the book 'The Chieftain: Victorian True Crime through the Eyes of a Scotland Yard Detective', about Detective Chief Inspector George Clarke and the 'Trial of the Detectives' of 1877.

The fourth speaker, and final speaker on Day One, was David Wickes, the man responsible for bringing the classic Jack the Ripper television series to production. One starring Barlow and Watt (1973) and Michael Caine (1988).

The sixth speaker was Ben Johnson, author of the book 'Charlie Peace: Murder, Mayhem and the Master of Disguise'.

The seventh speaker was Glenn Chandler, the creator and writer of the detective drama 'Taggert' and author of the book 'The Sins of Jack Saul: The True Story of Dublin Jack and the Cleveland Street Scandal'.

The eighth and final speaker at the conference was the great-grandson of PC Ernest Thompson, the constable who discovered the body of Frances Coles in Swallow Gardens while on his very first beat, and who nine years later as murdered while on duty.

Rippercast welcomes researcher Robert Anderson to further discuss the Long Island Serial Killer case, this time bringing to our listeners new information that is contained in as-yet unreleased Suffolk County Medical Examiner's report on the death of Shannan Gilbert. As an added bonus following the main one-on-one interview we include another conversation Mr. Anderson was able to have with Forensic Crime Scene expert Dr. Charles Tumosa.

Rippercast brings you Prof. Charles Tumosa's presentation from Rippercon-Baltimore entitled 'The Forensic Time Machine-Looking Backwards'. Tumosa discusses modern day forensic document examination and how those techniques could (or could not) be applied to such items as the letters from 'Jack the Ripper' and the Maybrick Diary. He also touches on Patricia Cornwell's work on her preferred suspect, the artist Walter Sickert, during the Q&A portion of his talk.
