Franklin Roosevelt's Quarantine Speech 10-5-1937
14/05/2021 Duración: 32minThe Quarantine Speech was given by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt on October 5, 1937 in Chicago (on the occasion of the dedication of the bridge between north and south outer Lake Shore Drive), calling for an international "quarantine" against the "epidemic of world lawlessness" by aggressive nations as an alternative to the political climate of American neutrality and non-intervention that was prevalent at the time. The speech intensified America's isolationist mood, causing protest by non-interventionists and foes to intervene. No countries were directly mentioned in the speech, although it was interpreted as referring to the Empire of Japan, the Kingdom of Italy, and Nazi Germany. Roosevelt suggested the use of economic pressure, a forceful response, but less direct than outright aggression.Public response to the speech was mixed. Famed cartoonist Percy Crosby, creator of Skippy (comic strip) and very outspoken Roosevelt critic, bought a two-page advertisement in the New York Sun

John F. Kennedy Speech, June 6, 1962
12/05/2021 Duración: 36minCommencement Address at Yale University. New Haven, CT.Amazing finish to this speech. The last 10 minutes or so of this speech are a defining moment in JFK's Presidency. He lays out the need for America to develop an activist government and economy. The exact opposite of what he lays out in this speech happens after his death. This was a throw down to the Corporate/ Business community that the New Deal was not a thing of the past, but was going to be an active part of our nation's future...if he had anything to say about it. Let's Ditch This And Grab A Beer.."This speech to Yale graduates was done when JFK got a (presumably) honorary degree from Yale, even though he was a Harvard Man. JFK makes light of this for the first few minutes but then latches down on the topic at hand, how to improve the Economy. It's actually pretty boring, and not one of JFK's worthy efforts. He ends the speech by doing something I noticed he did quite frequently. Just leaving the podium with out saying thank

A Time to Break Silence - Riverside Church speech
11/05/2021 Duración: 01h44s"Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence", also referred as Riverside Church speech, is an anti-Vietnam war and pro-social justice speech delivered by Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 4, 1967. The major speech at Riverside Church in New York, New York, followed several interviews and several other public speeches in which King came out against the war in Vietnam and the policies that created the war. Some, like civil rights leader Ralph Bunche, the NAACP, and the editorial page writers of the Washington Post and the New York Times called the Riverside Church speech a mistake on King's part. Others—including James Bevel, King's partner and strategist in the Civil Rights Movement—called it King's most important speech. It was written by activist and historian Vincent Harding.King delivered the speech, sponsored by the group Clergy and Laymen Concerned About Vietnam, after committing to participate in New York's April 15, 1967, anti-Vietnam war march from Central Park to the United Nation

Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 on Students with Disabilities
06/05/2021 Duración: 01h55minA May 6th subcommittees meeting:Committee on Education & LaborTwitter @EdLaborCmteSource link - Event ID=112581https://youtu.be/v6IAmKnNdlMToday, we meet to discuss how the pandemic has affected students with disabilities and our responsibility toensure they have access to free and appropriate education. As this subcommittee has established, the pandemic has disrupted the education and lives of tens of millions ofstudents across the country. But no group of students has lost more access to education during these lifesavingclassroom closures than students with disabilities. To understand why, we must examine the long-standing barriers to quality education for students with disabilitiesand how the pandemic has exacerbated these barriers. For students with disabilities, the promise of equal educational opportunity in federal law is grounded in a basicguarantee: access to free and appropriate public education—in the least restrictive environment—that meets theirneeds.Under the Rehabilitation Act and Individuals
