Crash Course In Awesome

In this sequel the boys finish up their year end wrap up and see us right through to 2012! So tune in to hear a spooky story, tons more honourable mentions and a glimpse of AWESOME topics to look forward to in this AWESOME new year....AWESOME!!!

In this first of a 2 part year end wrap up Ricky and Bryan revisit the first 19 episodes of Crash Course in Awesome with some new additions to favorite episodes as well as some new bits of information that didn't originally make it to the show!  Mullets and Bigfoots and Bloody Mary's, oh my!

In this special 8-bit episode, Bryan and Ricky welcome a new guest Matt to count down each of their top two favourite Nintendo games along with their choice of an obscure wildcard game! So fire up the ol' N.E.S, load your Nintendo Zapper and tune in!

The guys go over a tricky topic this week, the Aquatic Ape Theory, which is a fringe sciencey idea that humans evolved from, at some point, an ape that lived in and around water.  It's an interesting theory, whether it's accurate or not, so give'er a listen!

The boys give you a Crash Course on the amazing puppeteer Jim Henson!  So listen and learn a thing or two about an awesome man who inspired and entertained most, if not all of us at some point in our lives and who's vision still lives on today!

Way back in 1908 there was an absolutely GIGANTIC explosion (1000 times bigger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima) in the middle of Siberia and no one is totally sure what caused it!  Join Ricky and Bryan as they go over what happened, what the effects were and discuss what in the world (or from out of this world...?) this event was caused by! 

The guys review one of their favorite movies, the 1986 classic 'Big Trouble in Little China', starring Kurt Russell and directed by John Carpenter!  It's an incredible movie and Ricky and Bryan get to geek out while giving you some behind the scenes information and trivia!   So just do what Ol' Jack Burton does at a time like this, say 'what the hell' and listen in!

The boys give you a Crash Course in a great event that happens throughout the month of November in which men grow mustaches to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research.  There's also some fun to be had as they list off different styles of mustaches as well as some of our favorite people who sport them!

A quick heads up to you listeners, Bryan and Ricky are going to be reviewing the AWESOME 1986 John Carpenter movie 'Big Trouble in Little China' (starring Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall) so now's your chance to watch it before they go over the whole thing in a week and a half!  Enjoy!

The boys bop their 'mop-tops' to The Beatles as they give you a Crash Course in the urban legend that claims the real Paul McCartney died in a horrific car accident in 1966.

We take a special break from the usual format as Ricky and Bryan invite some friends to join them in telling their own personal ghost stories (from real life!)  Hallowe'en month comes to a close and the guys hope you enjoyed it!  Special thanks to Mark, Michelle and Logan for telling their spooky tales!

The boys continue 'The Mothman' series with a review of the film 'The Mothman Prophecies'  starring Richard Gere.  This is a film adaptation of the novel written by John Keel which documented the incidents of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1966. You can turn the lights back on for this one if you'd like.

The boys creep each other out as they give you a Crash Course in 'The Mothman'; a creature which plagued the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia over a 13 month period from 1966-1967. So turn off the lights, let your guard down and take a listen!

This week the boys give you a history lesson on our favourite city smashing monster, Godzilla! So tune in and take cover!

The guys give you a Crash Course in the 1980's cult classic 'The Toxic Avenger' from Troma Entertainment!  It's a gory, hilarious, gross-out low budget Super Hero Exploitation film!  So listen in as Ricky and Bryan discuss a brief history of Troma films and look at some different incarnations of Toxie, the Toxic Avenger!

Ay, Caramba! In this girthy sequel of "The Simpsons" episode Bryan, Mitch and Ricky wrap up their number one favorite episodes and get knee deep in some heavy "Simpsons" debate!

Bryan and Ricky welcome back Mitch as they count down their top 2 all time favorite episodes of The Simpsons (each) and give you some trivia and nerd out about some seriously classic episodes.  This is the first half of the count down, tune in next week for their number one episodes!

Ricky once again has to think quick on his feet (well, in his chair) as Bryan hits him up with a series of Survival situations he has to figure his way out of!  Will he survive this trek through the wilderness?  You'll have to listen to his adventure to find out!
