Sinopsis
I'm a media packrat. My collection of VHS recordings began in the '80s and at once point filled five storage shelves in my home. Over the years, I've transferred these hundreds of tapes onto 2,500+ DVDs. What's on them? That's what we're here to find out. This podcast will track my progress in cataloging these DVDs as we discover together what the heck is on all of them, keeping an eye on my current viewing habits as well. Happy viewing!

Ep. 34: Everything is Fine
14/09/2018 Duración: 30minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 34th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Everything is Fine," I continue working through weirdnesses in my music collection, and my Friday Night Feature welcomes the first appearance of "Arrested Development" episodes in my catalog. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, I talked about Dana Delany and her curious collection of printed material regarding humanoid Cylons on "Battlestar Galactica." Heading into my current direct-to-DVD recordings, I caught a few movies including "Sausage Party" and "The Book of Life" on FX and "The Fifth Estate" on TNT, which I wasn't nearly so enthusiatic about as the film was for its subject, Julian Assange and the establishment of Wikileaks. "Preacher" closed out its third season, "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" was a hoot, and as of this past week I've nearly finished watching Season 13 of "S

Ep. 33: Reporting Alternative Facts
01/09/2018 Duración: 34minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 33rd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Reporting Alternative Facts," my Friday Night Feature looks at tabloid journalism aboard the "Battlestar Galactica" and traces one or two reference points to stuff going on today. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, I explored "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's take on the 2008 writers' strike in "Canada on Strike," pulling in some comments from "Commentary!" the musical backstory released as part of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog." I also talk about some stuff that's been going on with my music library, which has taken some attention away from this project in recent weeks, as well as some news that led me to strip any potentially copyrighted images out of my Facebook page. Heading into my current direct-to-DVD recordings, I talked about significantly stepped-up storylines in

Ep. 32: We Used to Be Friends
17/08/2018 Duración: 31minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 32nd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "We Used to Be Friends," my Friday Night Feature highlights "Happy Go Lucky," the run-up to the second season finale of "Veronica Mars," with an affiliated photo set of Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls and others posted to my VideoFuzzy page on Facebook. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, I talk about the second season premiere of "Dead Like Me," episodes of "The 4400," "The Shield" and "Dirt," plus further fond remembrance of Robin Williams in "The Night Listener" from 2006. Heading into my current direct-to-DVD recordings, I explore some cataloging issues with "Battlestar Galactica" and "We Bare Bears." I rip on CBS Late Show host Stephen Colbert for his derisive dismissal of card readers hacked at fast food chains. Comments on "How the Universe Works," "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

Ep. 31: Tearing Into Claws
02/08/2018 Duración: 21minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 31st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Tearing into Claws," I talk about the second season of Niecy Nash's "Claws" on TNT. Also in my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I discuss the first season finale of "Pose" on FX, the second season of "Trial & Error: Lady, Killer" on NBC and its associated podcast "M Towne: Where Murder Happens," and I take aim at the phenomenon of misdelivered lines. I messed up and recorded a couple episodes from the 13th season of the CW's "Supernatural" out of order, caught the second-season opener of "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" on BBC America, and watched a few third-season episodes of "Preacher." And I forgot to mention it last time, but I also saw the Mary Magdalene episode of "Forbidden History." Finally, in Upcoming Shows, "We Bare Bears" has returned with new fourth season episodes o

Ep. 30: Exploring Filtered Lives
27/07/2018 Duración: 01h14minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 30th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Exploring Filtered Lives," I talk about Robin Williams' psychological exploration, "The Final Cut" from 2004. In my Classic Collection, I look at the first season finale of "Criminal Minds," the "Blink" episode of "Doctor Who" and I poke some fun at an episode of "Close to Home." In my Current Collection, I'm caught up with my current direct-to-DVD recordings, which this time included a lost Tom Baker-era episode of "Doctor Who," the second season finale of "Brockmire," and episodes of "South Park" and "Pose," some disturbing themes in "Dietland" and "Legion," some recent missteps on PBS, a few political ads and the second season premiere of "Trial & Error" on NBC. In What I've Been Watching, in this past month Ralph and I took in the Medora Musical in Medora, North Dakota, the local Capito

Ep. 29: A Deep Dive to The Inside
27/06/2018 Duración: 29minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 29th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "A Deep Dive to the Inside," I feature the pilot episode of FOX profiler procedural "The Inside." In my Classic Collection, I talk about the third season finale of "Rescue Me," some season one hijinks from "Dead Like Me," and a couple of evocative "Monk" episodes. Also, I issue a correction on a regrettable misidentification in my beat poetry submission on "Pose" in episode 28. In my Current Collection, I've very nearly caught up in my current direct to DVD recordings, so much so that most of the material has been covered in recent "What I've Been Watching" discussions, but one standout featured some joke credits in a segment on "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee" titled: "The Great Feminists in Feminism Herstory Hall of Lady Fame: Sarah Huckabee Sanders." In What I've Been Watching, I took in the

Ep. 28: Closer and Closer and Closer
12/06/2018 Duración: 30minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 28th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Closer and Closer and Closer," I feature an outlier episode from the second season of "The Closer" on TNT called "Heroic Measures." Also, I pass the 500 disc mark in my Classic Collection, where a music video from "The Mind of Mencia" becomes a jumping off point for discussions on trolling and bullying, and I talk about the fourth season premiere of "The Shield." Highlights from my Current Collection include a song by Bishop Briggs and an [adult swim] bumper inspired by a blog entry featuring the results of 1,200 video game titles fed into an AI neural net which then came up with its own video game titles. Here's the link to that blog entry. In What I've Been Watching, I craft a beat poetry reaction to the series premiere of Ryan Murphy's "Pose" on FX. I talk about the run-up to the second seas

Ep. 27: Digging Dirt
28/05/2018 Duración: 34minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 27th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Digging Dirt" I stitch together a second season episode of the FX series "Dirt," in which paparazzo Don Konkey is attacked and tied up in a Senate candidate's sex dungeon. Highlights include some fraught family dynamics and a peek at the early career of Evan Peters. In my Classic Collection I encounter cool episodes of "Rescue Me," "Psych" and "The 4400" and a BBC America production of Hellen Mirren in "Calendar Girls." Also, I'm finding episodes of the second season of "The Riches." My Current Collection turned up a few movies, a few mid-season episodes from "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace" and some season 11 episodes of "The X-Files," which I discovered may only be about half the actual season, but I've decided is all I'm going to need of that show. Ep. 26: Bringing the Thunder
17/05/2018 Duración: 35minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 26th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Bringing the Thunder" I talk about the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Jack Black and featuring strong performances by Panic! At the Disco, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Ludacris, The Pussycat Dolls, Jack White and the Raconteurs and many more. I talk about podcasts I've been listening to, including "Damn That Television," the "Reduced Shakespeare Company" podcast, WCBU's "Out and About" podcast focused on the arts scene in central Illinois, the official unofficial "Legion" fan podcast, "Voices of Deconversion," "Ask Me Another" and "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me," along with a couple more production-centered podcasts including "The Feed" by Libsyn podcast host staffers and "Build a Big Podcast" by David Hooper. Check them out! In my Classic Collection, I talk about a public television series I

Ep. 25: This Show Needs a Doctor!
03/05/2018 Duración: 31minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 25th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "This Show Needs a Doctor!" I talk about "42," a third-season episode of "Doctor Who" I recalled not liking very much the first time around, and now I'm remembering why. In my classic collection, I cataloged several episodes of "South Park," discovered follow-up episodes of "quarterlife" and "Terminal City," and explore a bit of methodology in identifying an episode of "Medium" I was having some trouble with. In my current collection, the season premieres of "The Magicians," "The Alienist," "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace" and "Waco" tracked into view. In What I've Been Watching, I'm reserving judgment on "Avengers: Infinity War" until the all but inevitable sequel, and I'm looking forward to the "Deadpool" sequel. I've been enjoying "Legion" on FX, and last weekend I

Ep. 24: Podcast Like Me: Sherwood Transfer
19/04/2018 Duración: 39minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 24th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. My Friday Night Feature highlights the pilot episode of HBO's "Dead Like Me" as edited for rebroadcast on SciFi, with a breakout on Dolores Herbig herself, Christine Willes, and her several appearances through my media collections. Christine Willes in "Dead Like Me" Christine Willes in "Reaper" Christine Willes in "Supernatural" A crowdsourcing attempt, Exhibit D, settled out of court when I was able to track down on my own the source of three clips from, as it turns out, "Rockstar Supernova" off CBS. My classic collection turned up the pilot episode of "Psych," the CG-heavy NOVA presentation of "The Elegant Universe" with Brian Greene and strong episode installments of "Rescue Me," "Monk" and AMC's "Hustle." My current collection turned up a PBS presentation of 2013's "Hawking" about the life of physicist Stephen Hawkin

Ep. 23: Ghost in the Podcast
05/04/2018 Duración: 29minHi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 23rd episode of VideoFuzzy, my twice-monthly progress report on archiving more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. Happy Easter! In my Friday Night Feature, I caught the pilot episode of a Canadian series called "Terminal City" that left me hungry for more. Just in time for Easter, my classic collection turned up the eight-hour Zefferelli presentation of "Jesus of Nazareth," starring ... well, basically, the 1970s (more looking forward to NBC's live presentation of "Jesus Christ Superstar," myself). Straddling my classic and current collections, I talk about "Ghost in the Shell," an anime series I've been following for a while, most recently on Toonami on [adult swim]. My current collection also turned up my favorite episode so far of "We Bare Bears," and so many movies. Also, this project proved to be actually useful! Stay tuned, we can find out how together. Enjoy!

Ep. 22: Exploring Words, God's or Otherwise
22/03/2018 Duración: 39minHiya! This installment marks my 22nd episode of VideoFuzzy, my twice-monthly progress report on archiving more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this one I respond to some listener feedback, and in my Friday Night Feature, I look at the more theological entries in my collection, discussing an MSNBC presentation called "The Gospel of Judas," and touch on my current thoughts on the subject with the CBS premiere of "Living Biblically" (not a fan). My classic collection presented a few dedicated tapes for "24," "South Park" and "NUMB3RS," and episodes of "Medium" had me doing some detective work. I finish my homemade DVD of "Tin Man" and in What I've Been Watching, I rip on "Waco," love on "Superstore" and "The Magicians," and I tried making stirrum, a rich, eggy Germans-from-Russia dish shared recently on "Prairie Mosaic." Turned out pretty well. Enjoy!

Ep. 21: Negotiating an Episode Pileup
11/03/2018 Duración: 35minHey guys! This installment marks my 21st episode of VideoFuzzy, my twice-monthly progress report on archiving more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. First, thank you to podcaster Fei Wu for sharing my comments along with those of a couple dozen other podcasters on her Fei's World Podcast mini-episode 140, "How to Embrace the Plateau as a Podcaster" (link) For this one I'm joined by writer Kymn Files to discuss "quarterlife," both her stage version and NBC's. I break into a new binder of DVDs in my current collection and find a Prairie Musicians feature on singer-songwriter Brenda Weiler. And in what I've been watching, "The Magicians," "Working Buddies," I pick up the first season finale of "Claws," and some realizations about "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace." Happy viewing!

Ep. 20: What's a VideoFuzzy?
22/02/2018 Duración: 30minIn this, my 20th episode, I enjoy a first-season episode of the "Battlestar Galactica" reboot. My classic collection features John Waters' "Female Trouble," "Casino Royale" (1967), episodes from "Eli Stone," "Lost," "Monk," and the edited-for-CBS version of "Dexter," plus episodes of "Torchwood" and "Doctor Who." My current collection features episodes of "@Midnight," "Claws," "Preacher" and a random episode of "Modern Family." In What I've Been Watching, I clear a lot of movies out of my DVR including "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," "The Fantastic Four," "Thor: The Dark World," "Interstellar," "Zero Dark Thirty," "The Martian," "Batman: Dark Knight Rises" and "Psych: The Movie," which was AWESOME! I've also been watching episodes from "Supernatural," "The X Files," "Happy!" and "The Alienist." Also, every 10 episodes I give a project overview and progress report. This time: How did this whole thing start, and what the heck is a "VideoFuzzy"? Enjoy!

Ep. 19: Celebrating Special Guests
06/02/2018 Duración: 26minIn this installment, I break into my third binder of homemade DVDs. I gain some insight into the theme song for "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee." And for my Friday Night Feature, I chat about the 2001 time travel exploration "Donnie Darko." In my classic collection, I catalog a pretty broad range of movies including "L.A. Confidential," "Shaun of the Dead," "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," "Monster," "Magic," "11:14," "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer," "Breach," "The March of the Penguins" and "Female Trouble," and highlight cameo appearances by assorted guest stars in such shows as "Boston Legal," "Medium," "Monk," "Psych," "Nip/Tuck" and "Ugly Betty." And I'm pleasantly surprised to encounter a dear friend of mine making a cameo appearance in a segment on "The Colbert Report." In my current collection, I cataloged the B-movie thrill-ride "Sucker Punch," along with such movies as "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows," "Peep World" and "Big Fish," and episodes from "Fargo," "Dirk Gently's Holistic Dete

Ep. 18: All the World's a Stage
24/01/2018 Duración: 23minIn this installment, I explore the second season of Canadian masterwork "Slings & Arrows." I track the first couple episodes of "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," an outrageously good episode of "Family Guy" from 2005, a Christopher Guest submission "For Your Consideration" I'd completely forgotten about (along with a few even more forgettable entries). My current collection turned up "Class," "Machete Kills" and another disc mishap. In what I've been watching, there's "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace" and “grown-ish." "The X Files," grudgingly, does seem to be worth a look, "The Magicians" and "Happy!" continue nicely, there's a spinoff planned from "Supernatural," and the premiere of "The Alienist" on TNT.

Ep. 17: Enjoying a Few "Finallys"
11/01/2018 Duración: 31minIn this installment, I correct a turn-of-phrase error from when I talked about “Pushing Daisies” last time. I go into some detail about 1999’s “Topsy-Turvy,” or the making of “The Mikado.” Other finds in my classic collection include “Drumline,” “The Twilight Zone” and “Swingers.” My current collection turns up “Pacific Rim,” “Mommie Dearest” and “The Campaign” and my catalog of “Supernaturals” enters season 11. Finally, in what I’ve been watching, we’ve got the “Doctor Who” Christmas special, the “Breaking Bad” 10-year celebration and the dark ages between my classic and current collections, comments on “American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson,” “9-1-1,” “grown-ish,” “The X Files,” “Will & Grace,” “Superstore” and “Happy!” Plus I finally get to see “Hocus Pocus” all the way through -- fun!

Ep. 16: Enjoying a Big Reveal
25/12/2017 Duración: 20minIn this installment, I clean up a little old business regarding those "unrecoverably absent" portions of SciFi's three-part miniseries "Tin Man" from last time and rule out a possibility on Crowdsourcing Exhibit C, the crowd scene in the French Quarter of New Orleans. My Friday Night Feature explores a season 1 episode of "Samantha Who" and a bombshell revelation from season 1 of "Pushing Daisies." My Classic Collection traces the 1.0 version of this video cataloging project, episodes of NBC's "Life" and "The Universe" on the History Channel, and ABC's presentation of Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events." My Current Collection has logged nearly a score of "Supernaturals," a few more "Fawlty Towers" and closed out my collection of "Archers" and "Brockmires." I saved a standout episode of "The Family Guy" and determined that I'm going to go back in and recatalog my episodes of "The President Show" to make them easier to navigate. Finally, in What I've Been Watching, I can't say I stayed spoiler-fre

Ep. 15: Adventures in Absentia
12/12/2017 Duración: 20minIn this installment, my Friday Night Feature on "Tin Man" opens onto what appears to be a puzzling, unrecoverable absence of missing media, and while talking out my next move I comment on MTV News and anti-piracy efforts. My Classic Collection offers up a few more Kathy Griffin stand-up specials, and my Current Collection sparks some commentary on "Bob's Burgers." In What I've Been Watching, I spend a weekend clearing movies from the DVR including "Dark Shadows," "Insidious," "Pulp Fiction" (one of my many, many recordings), "Guys and Dolls," "ParaNorman" and "Cabin in the Woods," tho I am thwarted yet again in my viewing of "Hocus Pocus." Also, I draw some parallels between Pixar’s brilliant Dia de los Muertos epic "Coco" (go see it -- go see it now) and Laika's "Kubo and the Two Strings" from last summer, and I close out with some comments on Carol Burnett's delightful 50th Anniversary special.
