  • New To You ep104b: Seminal Works 2

    09/07/2013 Duración: 46min

Another week exploring Seminal Works. This week our three hosts, Keith Vincent, John Holt, and Mary Varn are joined again by Adam Moerder. Fair warning, we get a little loopy on this one (maybe it was the heat). ___________ Segment 1: Egon Schiele (Austrian Artist- Deceased)  Mary Varn (@maryvarn) has us take a look at an extremely influential painter from the turn-of-century (1900's). Extremely popular and controversial in his time, his work has widespread impact across all forms of visual media. Egon Schiele was a protege of Klimt. A product of the early 1990's, Magic the Gathering got a toe-hold in a time when traditional board gaming was taking a back seat to console video games. Celebrating 20yrs of being in existence this year (2013), Magic has persisted and is gaining in popularity.   You can find out more about this game at  wizards.com  or at a friendly local game store (if you're in NYC I recommend the Twenty Sided Store). There are versions of the game available on the current consoles, PC, and tablet devices as well.      __________ Segment 2: "Emergency" from the collection Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson (short story)   Adam Moerder (Mr Dream, @IIIMOERDERIII, www.buzzfeed.com/moerder), our guest host this week, brin
