Mother’s Day encompasses so many different emotions, situations and relationships, and too often, we paint in broad strokes. We preach messages based on the faulty assumption that all mothers are the same or the myth that the perfect mother exists. This week, we’re going to take a closer look at four different mothers in the Bible and see if we can find encouragement, help and hope for the real moms. All four of the moms that we’re discussing have one thing in common: Egypt. Two of them are Egyptian, and the other two are Hebrew women living in Egypt.

Fear, condemnation, and shame for sin will keep us from God. It creates a barrier and prevents us from achieving intimacy with God. The work of the cross removed that barrier. Now we can fully see Him and be transformed into His image. When we focus on sin that barrier returns. Instead of seeing Jesus and flowing freely in His love and grace, we become yet again bound by the death that the law brings. Kingdomrock.org

God gave Moses the law to show His people their sin and the death that it would bring. Jesus came and did the work necessary to redeem us from this death. His sacrifice allows us to live under Grace. Now, instead of dwelling under the hopelessness of sin, we can look to Jesus and live. We can focus on Him and be transformed. kingdomrock.org

Jesus was invited to eat with a Pharisee named Simon. While he was at Simon's house, a woman took an alabaster flask of fragrant oil and began to anoint Jesus' body with the oil. Simon's response to that was not one of showing love toward the woman. As Jesus begins to explain to Simon that even though she was a sinner before, her heart had changed for the better and she was forgiven. The Lord told her to go in peace. Paul in his letter to the Corinthian church was encouraging the church to work together. He told them that there should be no division or schism in the body but that they should have the same care for one another. We can learn from the letter that Paul wrote to the church for when we have different ministries in the church, we should work together. Pastor Dobbs will be teaching how different auxiliaries such as men's ministry, youth ministry, women's ministry, etc. should work together to fulfill the will of God for the church.
