    Chris Dundon of St. Senan's Parish came on the programme to tell us about Barrigone Blessed Well which is on the road between Foynes and Askeaton. The pagan Irish just like the pagan Romans, worshipped many Gods. Manannán Mac Lir was their God of the Sea, and each river and stream had its own particular deity (divine status).  Springs, especially strong springs in arid regions were specially venerated and to such spring the people came to worship and revere.  We can assume that the well at Barrigone was one of these revered springs to which the local people came on certain days in each of the seasons.Time passed and in 432 A.D.     It is the holiday season at the minute and many people are also undertaking pilgrimages to the likes of Lourdes, Fatima and Medugorje as well as walking the Camino to Santiago and also more local pilgrimages to Lough Derg and Knock. It is traditional to bring back souvenirs and memento's especially pious objectives for those at home from such journeys. But there can be a tendency by some people to view such items as being superstitious or as some kind of "magic" item. Through volunteering at the Michaela Girls Summer Camps these young adults have discovered a tremendous thirst for God amongst the young girls of Ireland. There is an eagerness to know God and a huge amount of energy and joy that is palpable when young people embrace their faith. Their desire to spread the joy of our faith has led them to some very special people  and religious congregations.We have all been invited  to help them with a special project .They were inspired by Pope Francis' call for Religious Congregations to 'wake up the world' and they asked us to help them come up with a way to promote and celebrate this 'Year for Consecrated Life ' (Nov 2014-Nov 2015).     Bishop Cullinan was born in Lahinch, County Clare in 1959 to Christy and Rita and has four sisters and five brothers.  He was a priest of the diocese of Limerick.  His family moved to Limerick city where he attended the Salesians for early education, John F Kennedy National School and the Crescent College Comprehensive (SJ) for his secondary education.  From 1978-1981 he attended Mary Immaculate College of Education Limerick and qualified as a primary teacher (B.Ed) in 1981, and taught for six years in Castleconnell, County Limerick. He worked part-time during that time for four years with the Bunratty Castle Entertainers before going to Spain where he taught English for two years in a school in Valladolid.  Bishop Cullinan studied at Saint Patrick’s College Maynooth from 1989-95 where he completed an STL (Licentiate in Theology).  He was ordained by Bishop Jeremiah Newman in 1994 in Saint John’s Cathedral, Limerick, and appointed Curate in Saint Munchin’s Parish Limerick city 1995-1996.  Father Cullinan’s ne

He fills us in what has been happening in terms of training and faith formation for the various lay delegates to the Synod, the different meetings and trainings that have been held and also the listening and parish discernment process which is currently drawing to a close in various parishes around the diocese.
