Luke Maye, Former UNC Tarheel
30/09/2020 Duración: 27minIn this episode of the PSB Podcast, PSB Co-founder Logan Kosmalski talks with recent UNC-Chapel hill graduate/player Luke Maye. Logan and Luke discuss Luke’s stellar career as a basketball player from playing for Logan’s PSB 7th grade team to Luke’s career at UNC-Chapel hill to now signing with the Milwaukee Bucks G-League team the Wisconsin Herd. Luke put together a career at UNC-Chapel hill that will go down in the history books. In his freshman season (2015-16), he played 5.6 minutes a game and averaged 1.2 points per game. Luke put the work in and put the college basketball world on notice. In his junior season, Luke averaged 16.9 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and played 32.2 minutes per game. That same season UNC Chapel-hill won the National Championship (2017-18). Luke went on to have a stellar senior campaign and has now signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks G-League team the Wisconsin Herd. From DIII Basketball to Making Big Time
22/09/2020 Duración: 15minEvery year thousands of high school players set out on the summer recruiting circuit in hopes of fulfilling their dreams of playing DI. But what happens when the summer ends and none of those DI schools have come calling? What do you do when the only schools that want you are at the DIII level? This was the situation facing Andy Panko in the late 1990’s. His decision put him on a path that few expected. Andy was an undersized, skinny high school player. Like everyone else, he had dreams of playing for a power conference DI school and moving on to the NBA. But at the end of his high school career, it was clear that the DI schools weren’t coming after him. Andy wanted to go somewhere where he would play and play right away, so he enrolled at Lebanon Valley College...and the rest is history. Listen to his story now! When Youth Basketball & Sports Turn Violent | Hoop for Thought Series [REPLAY]
10/09/2020 Duración: 20minIn 2012, a 5th and 6th-grade youth basketball game took a violent turn. It was a Catholic Youth Organization league game in Springfield, Massachusetts. The incident started during the post-game handshake lines when Timothy Lee Forbes and Jose Feliciano exchanged words. Words quickly turned into action and the resulting fight unleashed chaos in the gym. At the end of the incident, Feliciano would have part of his ear bitten off by Forbes, who fled the gym with his family. Forbes would end up being arrested and spend years in prison for the incident. In this episode, PSB co-founder Logan Kosmalski talks with Sheileen Feliciano, the wife of Jose Feliciano, and gets her side of the story. We also hear from “This is Your Brain on Sports” author Samuel Summers about what could be causing this violence and what can be done about it.
