Today, I share some ideas I have for my GatherVerse talk!! I jump around ideas such as futurism being more than an aesthetic, how/why technology should be more human, how our society is a system of abstract virtual worlds, and how we can make the Metaverse less dystopian and more a manifestation of sentient thought.

It's not even an exaggeration to say that America is founded on unethical actions and power trips. This great nation that many around the world are taught to regard as some paragon of progress, freedom, and democracy is a thinly veiled aristocratic empire. What started as a day where I just paid a few traffic tickets turned into a full vent about the history of America. Enjoy. Or don't. I don't care. Just spend a little time thinking about what makes this country 'great' and go see if that's actually all that great, or if it's just empty calories (or privileges allowed thanks to the abuse and genocide of other people).

I'm back! I've binging a new web fiction called The Menocht Loop. I share my story on how I found it and later describe why I enjoy the story so much. I then share some of my ideas for my upcoming Gatherverse talk where I will be sharing insights on how we can design a humanity-first Metaverse by embracing the meaningless definition of the term. For the first episode of 2022 I share some arguments from my year in review newsletter!! It ended up being over 60 pages, 20k words, and 30 sections!! I delve into my arguments explaining why hierarchies are the root problem behind most of humanities problems. I go through stuff around human nature, evolution, technology, and more... Comparing hierarchy to cancer and how/why we can fix these issues.

Special guest, Soteria joins me on the podcast today!! We talk about Community and Donald Glover, then discuss the disappointment that is the 4th Matrix movie. Finally, we dive in to trans issues and the problem of ignoring the intersectionality with gender expression and racialized black people.

I somewhat continue yesterday's topic about the Metaverse, but focus a bit on the future of media consumption. I then get into the importance of ensuring the future of the internet is decentralized and explain what that might look like.

After giving some updates on my week, I share my thoughts on the XR cube of technologies in response to the CEO of Niantics conversation with the host of the decoder podcast. I explain that augmented reality and virtual reality are on intersecting spectrums, two perpendicular faces of the XR spectrum. The other faces are: spatial computing, cloud computing, machine vision, and blockchain technology. Together, these bring the internet out of the computer and into the 'real' world, allowing our computers to directly interface with the world, creating a dynamic Metaverse where the virtual and physical worlds are intimately connected.

Some troubling news has lead me to consider how profit-seeking capitalists have potentially handicapped the effectiveness of vaccines. I also talk about ways in which medicine and science can progress outside of a capitalist system, and discuss some ideas around better health data usage. I share some of my frustrations after spending a night in the hospital with my mother. I then share some updates on what I've been working on and give more ideas on how we can make the world a better place.

Today, I talk about how our hierarchical, empire-building society will likely collapse like every one before it. I discuss why it's so important to reconsider our relationship with nature in order to develop societies and technologies that could last thousands and maybe even millions of years!

I should call this 'Tangents of a TechnoWizard' cuz I really be all over the place! Today I start off talking about some of the games I've been playing, then I share my frustrations with finances and with how weird this time of year is and how much I wish it were more communal. I then share more frustrations about my lack of progress and action... But somehow turn that into a damn sermon about how we can stop identifying with our emotions and be more flexible in our minds. There's a few other things I discuss, and a whole lot I left out, but hopefully you can pick up some nice tidbits here and there!

Last night was crazy! Today, I recount my wild experience. After that, I share some updates on my work, which leads me into some thoughts on complexity vs simplicity vs complicatedness... Then I try to explain this epic idea I have about how virtual simulations can visualize and empower human consciousness by replicating the power of the neocortex, but via virtual worlds that we can actually live in and experience immersively. Finally I talk about my desire to make more friends and to play boardgames together.

This leads me down a tangent about the illusion of free will and why determinism is a very beautiful idea.

Today I vent a bit about my newsletter and it's progress, then I go into a rant about YouTube saying they will remove the public-facing Dislikes counter. Finally ending on some ideas on how we can design decentralized video platforms that are just as easy to use, if not more so!!

I catch up a bit on how my job has been, and then express some of my frustrations and hopes for the news around Facebook and the Metaverse.

Pre-Holocene climate changed drastically. But roughly 11K years ago, the climate stabilized. I play around with the idea that the creation of agriculture and settled cultures is therefore not an 'advancement' but an adaptation. One in which is biased towards inequality. I suggest that perhaps we should rebalance that bias by being more open to the concept of completely changing our society rather than seeking cultural longevity through stagnation and consolidation of power. I also talk about how and why our social environments play a large role in our social behavior and how we structure our society.
