The ease of which we talk about tragedy suddenly astounds me. Homelessness, isolation, abuse, good people in bad times helping other good people in bad times. It’s all just normal. It’s all reliant on people leaning on people because the system set up to oppress has few resources of compassion to lift and support those good people. Life is hard, and hard shouldn’t be the normal. The pandemic highlighted many things, but the underlying conditions that have held together, have fractured at a human level.
