Alonzo cart Alonzo Carter is the assistant head coach, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at San Jose State. He was recognized by 247Sports.com as the Mountain West Recruiter of the Year in 2019.

Coach Carter became a national figure in college football and the coaching profession in the spring of 2020 organizing his "West Coast ZOOM Calls." He desired to assist minority coaches with upward mobility in the coaching profession, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sports and society. 
In August, 2020, he was named to the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches (NCMFC) executive committee. The organization's goal is to identify and groom coaches of color, and create a list of coaching candidates for upward mobility. On campus, he now serves as an advisor to the student-athlete groups, People of Change and #SJSpeaksUp.
