Darts: Darts formed around 2008, initially just as a two-piece — Angus Ayres and his brother Andrew — in the Victorian city of Bendigo. They ballooned out to a five-piece in the early 2010’s, adding Ally Campbell-Smith, Paige X. Cho and Jessie Fernandez to fold. They have a melancholic, aggressive sound that feature loud-quiet dynamics that exhibit their unique tapestry of influences. One listen will induce flashbacks to early Modest Mouse, Pixies, The Breeders and Dinosaur Jr, all wrapped up in one frenetic punch that’s impossible to listen to without being totally absorbed. In 2015, Darts started to gain a wider audience when they released their album ‘Below Empty & Westward Bound’ on Rice Is Nice Records.
