Locked On Red Sox

The Red Sox dropped the series opener, 9-2, to the San Diego Pades Friday night at Fenway Park.  Nick Pivetta was cruising through the first four innings against the Padres and then he ran into all kinds of trouble in the 5th inning against Pivetta and reliever Greg Weissert.  The first 5 hitters reached base against Pivetta before he was removed from the game.  Weissert entered and gave up a 2-R single to Jake Cronenworth and then a 3-R Home Run to Jackson Merrill. The first 9 hitters reached before an out was recorded.  Padres were held in check the rest of the way.  Connor Wong got the Red Sox on the board first with a 2-out, RBI single in the 4th.  Wong extended his hit streak to 14 in a row. Rafael Devers hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 6th.  Devers with his 17th on the season and he's homered in 3 straight games.  Ceddanne Rafael had 3 hits, including double in the 9th.  Jarren Duran combined to go 1-for-10 with 3 strikeouts, and both struck out in the 9th inning.  Red Sox are 43-38 at the mid-point
