Locked On Red Sox

The Red Sox (82-69) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Athletics in front of a crowd of 35,886 at Fenway Park Tuesday night. The Sox are 2-3 on their current 6-game homestand and 4-9 over their last 13 games in Boston.  With the win, the Athletics have won 5 in a row. ----Early Is A Go: Connelly Early was terrific in making his 1st career start at Fenway in Tuesday night's opener against the Athletics. Early left with a 1-0 lead and a runner on in the 6th and was charged with the run after Greg Weissert game up a game-tying, 2-out RBI Double to pinch-hitter Tyler Soderstrom.  Early in his 1st 2 Big League starts has given up 1 earned run over 10.1 Innings. He's walked only 1 and struck out 18.  He's allowed 10 hits in the 2 starts, both vs. the Athletics, and they've all been Singles.  -----Sox at the DISH: The Red Sox had the bases loaded and no one in the 2nd Inning but failed to score.
