The Red Sox (81-67) returned home Friday night to open up a 6-game homestand and dropped the series opener, 4-1, to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The Sox have lost 2 in a row and are now 1.5 games behind the Yankees for the top Wild Card in the American League. The Red Sox are now 4.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays.   -----Going with Gio: Lucas Giolito made the start in the series opener and took the loss to fall to 10-4 on the season. Giolito gave up a solo Home Run to Aaron Judge in the 1st Inning and an unearned run in the 3rd Inning. He departed with 2 outs in the 5th Inning and the Red Sox trailing, 2-0.  Giolito walked 1 and struck out 6 in his outing. The Red Sox have lost his last 2 starts and are now 16-8 in his 24 outings on the season.
