This week, our Webwatchers look at the "dependability" of technology. In addition to being reliable and doing the job it was designed to do, technologies also need to be safe to use, and be secure from attack. From the Hindenberg disaster to an odd quirk with the Apple iPad's magnetic cover, we examine examples in which technologies became less dependable than intended.
