Sinopsis
On this episode of the Food About Town podcast, I took a trip out to http://www.southhillcider.com/ (South Hill Cider) just south of Ithaca to talk with owner, cidermaker, apple picker, musician and community orchardist Steve Selin. Steve was nice enough to invite us to visit his orchard and record the podcast in his beautiful wood shop located on site. This episode is brought to you by http://phrank.ly (Phrank.ly). Phrankly is working to make sourcing and distribution for restaurants, farms and speciality goods more transparent and change the way people find their food. Terroir is a term widely used in the wine industry and Steve is trying to showcase that philosophy with the ciders he makes. South Hill will be harvesting from their diverse orchard on site for the first time this year. This will showcase the heritage cider style apples and the land they are grown on. The orchard was designed to be harvested when each apple is optimally ripe and will be turned into the South Hill’s first estate
