Prophets And Peacemakers

I am very excited to share the latest episode of Prophets and Peacemakers! It is with one of my very favorite artist's, Lauren Tilden. She received first place honors at the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon, is a three-time recipient of grants from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and her work has appeared in many publications.    She renders striking portraits and that are often inspired by themes from the Bible, and is on the vanguard of a movement among artists that use  "realism" style of painting. One of the most curious things to me as a Christian who has seen God at work in my life in so many powerful ways, is what it is like for someone to not believe in God. But what is also really curious for me, and truthfully quite sad, is how often Christians and atheists can see each other as a threat, as an enemy. I had recently met a gentleman that I instantly liked, and he and I spent some time together having great conversations. I learned in the process that he is an atheist, and he learned that I am a Christian. So I had to ask my new friend, Rick Carr, whom I only knew three weeks, “Hey Rick, I have this Christian podcast, and I think you would be amazing on it. Would you be willing to share your views as an atheist as a guest on my show?” Rick said yes, and this episode - one of the most interesting ones I have ever done - was born. Minister Steve Brigham is an advocate for the homeless at the Jersey Shore. 18 years ago he chose to live among the homeless and poor in tents as a way to bring hope to them that God cares about them, while tirelessly fighting for their cause for a better of way of life with city, county snd state officials. He is the embodiment of what it means to love your neighbor and to care for the poor among us.
