  • S11E25 Guest Special: Erin Boyle

    02/11/2021 Duración: 01h53min

In our latest episode John, Erin and Scott M are joined by poet Erin Boyle for another guest special. We're in good company as Erin was nominated this year for Scots Performer of the Year. We discuss the fantastic work she does with the Kano Foundation which helps get kids get a chance to visit Celtic Park for games. One of the key parts to this is the sense of community with all the various fundraising done to help out. Erin discusses her favourite moments as a Celtic fan, makes the regulars feel old and makes a chocking revelation about pies. They give us an insight in to what inspires their poetry and we discuss the disappointment that not as many kids are out in the park these days kicking a ball. There's a bit of banter throughout the podcast between the Aberdeen and Celtic fans on the podcast as we have a bit of a Scott Brown love in. To conclude the podcast we ask Erin some slowfire questions and she gives us a six a side team from her time supporting Celtic. Remember you can get free shipping an

  • S11E24 Kilmarnock Women's Special

    26/10/2021 Duración: 01h34min

In a first for the podcast we are joined by a Head Coach and captain of a team as Andy Gardner and Laura McLaughlin from Kilmarnock Women FC join the two John's and Erin. There's plenty to discuss as we cover how they got involved in coaching and playing football, the way that they had to adapt during the pandemic and much more. Andy talks about how the club have been really supportive around promoting the team and the ambitions for the future as they look to progress to SWPL1. As always there is food chat which as always brings great debate and interesting revelations. Good John gives a brief insight in to his experience at Scotland v Hungary and we discuss the impact of SWNT on the way that media exposure has increased in Women's football on the back of this. We discuss how this can be improved further with more awareness of the game and even more media exposure to include SWPL2. The podcast concludes with Laura giving us a best six a side team of players she has played with. If you haven't been to a

  • S11E23 SWNT v Hungary Preview and SWPL Review

    21/10/2021 Duración: 51min

It's International weekend for the Scotland Women's National Team and John B is joined by commentator Stuart Mitchell, freelance reporter David Smith and returning guest Alan, aka Air Force Wan to preview Friday's World Cup qualifier against Hungary at Hampden. Alan was late on as he was busy washing his hair in anticipation of his competition prize from Supernova Terracewear. We review the opening two qualifiers, which saw a 2-0 away win against Friday's opponents and a resounding 7-1 win against the Faroe Islands on a historic evening at the Girls new home of Hampden Park. Even after just two games and in his first meeting with the girls, the impact of Pedro Martinez Losa hasn't gone unnoticed. With bigger challenges lying in waiting against Ukraine and Spain next month, the importance of victory on Friday is there for all to see, but the quality of the squad suggests there is lots to be positive about this Scotland team. The chat then moves onto review the SWPL 1 and 2 seasons so far, with both leagues p

  • S11E22 Guest Special: Dictator

    19/10/2021 Duración: 01h29min

In our second football/music special, we have Michael and Joe from West Lothian band Dictator join John for a blether. It's exciting times for the band as they have recently signed a record deal with Blackhall Records and they are preparing for their headline gig at Stereo in Glasgow. The guys are Celtic fans so they give their view on how the season has gone so far, their all time favourite players and best and worst kits from their lifetime. We discuss the influence that singers/bands from West Lothian are currently having in music and try to pinpoint exactly why things are so buzzing in that particular area currently. As Lewis Capaldi sang, 'There must be something in the water'. There are questions from our listeners and those who can't make the podcast which is fun as always. The six a side team chosen is a belter. Towards the end of the podcast we do the draw for the latest Supernova Terracewear (@supernovatwear on Twitter) competition where there are two bobble hats to be won. As Fantasy Football

  • S11E21 Steve Clarke Says I Do

    12/10/2021 Duración: 02h09min

We said before when we qualified for the Euros that we may not have a more magical moment but Saturday came close with many fans and players proclaiming it the 'Best Night Ever' For our latest podcast, regulars John, Erin, Ross and Scott are joined by debutant Alan and returning guests Josh and Kyle. There are some croaky voices, plenty of banter, some great debate and a great buzz overall. Making memories is a key feature as we discuss what it means to us, how much we love the current squad and Lyndon Dykes inspiration for his goal. Hopefully we manage to recreate the magical scenes from Saturday whether you were there or weren't. There is a live draw for t-shirt competition courtesy of our Fantasy Football Scotland sponsors Supernova Terracewear. Kyle tells us stories about his football pals, Josh gives us some culture and Alan makes a debut not seen since Billy Gilmour made his first appearance for Scotland. Did Fergie inspire McTominay to score his winner? We discuss the virtues of Fergie Time and m

  • S11E20 Guest Special: Kyle Gunn

    05/10/2021 Duración: 01h36min

This week we have a treat as journalist, columnist, St Mirren fan and all round good guy Kyle Gunn joins the two John's and Erin. There is plenty to discuss with Scotland v Israel coming up on Saturday and we're all on the positivity bus. Who starts in defence is the biggest concern with Hanley being out? It's the biggest game since Serbia but we can't rely on a penalty shootout this time round. The other great debate is where Kyle's pal John McGinn plays in midfield. Kyle takes great pleasure in giving Aberdeen a slagging which is probably less so than some Dons fans. Can St Mirren achieve top six or even dare to dream of Europe? It will be 35 years since their 1987 Scottish Cup win so maybe it's written in the stars. We take a look at some interesting events in the last week of Scottish football including one of the most bizarre games ever at Pollok v Auchinleck Talbot. Social Media went in to meltdown before this podcast was recorded but it gave us time to get followers on Twitter to show us some of th

  • S11E19 Groundhopper Special

    30/09/2021 Duración: 01h59min

In our latest episode, John and Donald are joined by a couple of fine guests. We have Adam (@FitbaNomad) and Graeme (@GilesGraeme) on who have a passion for visiting different grounds in Scotland and on occasion further afield. We discuss how everyone makes their decision on what games to attend, is it location, fixture, derby or because they do a top pie? There is chat about the best pies on offer in Scotland and the reasons why fans are choosing to visit what were traditionally Non League grounds. The community aspect is a theme that has particular value as fans are treated well, sometimes allowed access to behind the scenes and even on the odd occasion given a free pint. In Scotland, groundhopping 'day' takes place this weekend in the East of Scotland so keep an eye out on those fixtures if you fancy visiting some different grounds. The guys discuss favourite experiences they've had on their travels and the worst experience is so hard to beat that no one else even competes. The podcast concludes with s

  • S11E18 Iona Fyfe Special

    28/09/2021 Duración: 01h54min

We love on the podcast celebrating Scottish football and we believe that we should also champion Scottish music from singers and bands. This week we have Iona Fyfe joining John, Erin and McGill for the first of our football/music specials. The last 18 months has seen many industries struggle due to Covid and the music industry was affected massively. A sector that brings so much to the economy and to society, just like football. We discuss how Iona got in to music, the things that she enjoys about football, music, if she had a Genie which she would have to shake off to get three wishes. Football and music have a feeling of community that bring us together and give us identity. It's okay to like different teams or bands but its important to be respectful of differing opinions though we may not always agree with them. There is the usual food chat which seems to give us the most controversy on the podcast so remember to let us all know how you eat your pizza or sandwich. We hope you enjoy this slightly dif

  • S11E17 No Longer Naive: African Football Special

    22/09/2021 Duración: 02h20s

In our latest episode, regulars John, Donald, Erin and Scott are joined by Ibrahim Mustapha who has recently launched his book 'No Longer Naive'. The book is about African teams at the World Cup so we discuss what inspired him to write the book and some of our memories of teams playing at the World Cup. It's really interesting as we talk about what could be done to improve the game in Africa behind the scenes. The chat leads on to the best African players to have played in Scotland and the impact they have made on our game. Between us we pick a best eleven which would certainly be entertaining to watch. We conclude the podcast with a rapid review of what's been going on in Scottish football. • S11E16 SWNT World Cup Preview Special

    16/09/2021 Duración: 53min

There was a last minute change in host as regular guest special host John B had to call in sick. With none of the regular Podcast team available, Leading The Line Podcast host Chris Marshall kindly stepped into the hosts chair and was joined by regular SWPL commentator Stuart Mitchell. The guys discuss the excitement and anticipation of the Scotland Women's National Team's upcoming World Cup Qualifying matches against Hungary on Friday and Faroe Islands at Hampden on Tuesday. It is Pedro Martinez Losa's first matches since taking over from Shelley Kerr in the summer and he's had to deal with a series of call offs, most notably to Caroline Weir, Kirsty Smith, Lucy Graham and Lisa Evans. The impact of those withdrawals are discussed but there is still a positive feeling that the squad we have is still capable enough of getting six points. With top seeds Spain still to come, these points are vital. As mentioned, the Women's side are now playing their qualifying matches at Hampden, and with tickets at just £10

    14/09/2021 Duración: 02h07min

For our latest episode John is joined by Ethan and Jeff who return after being on the Premiership Preview earlier in the season. Our main focus is to preview the Dundee derby with our guests being very complimentary about the opposition. We discuss the intriguing tactical battle, key players and favourite memories from the derby. Scotland recorded a massive win against Austria which means we know what we need to do to qualify for the playoffs. We cover some of the other weekend action in the Premiership, have some food chat, Lower League predictions game and more. Next month Jeff releases his book, Scotland's Lost Clubs so keep an eye out for that and he reveals he is in the process of writing a book about the Dundee derby. We begin by talking about how he got involved with this venture and how successful it has been for him. After three years at Dens Park, Stewart was then signed by Aberdeen. In his second game, he picked up a European Super Cup winners medal after victory over Hamburg then he scored the winning goal against Hearts at Tynecastle that clinched the title, with the Scottish Cup completing the double following shortly afterwards. Six more major trophies would follow i

  • S11E13 Tartan Army Wanderer Special

For our latest episode we are joined by long serving Tartan Army member Clark for some stories about his time following Scotland across the globe. He joins John, Erin and Scott to reflect on the game against Moldova and look ahead to a crucial game against Austria. As always we have plenty to discuss, there is still a concern in front of goal, are the tactics a bit too rigid and how much is it for a pie at Hampden? Clark is part of the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal which does tremendous work to help children wherever Scotland play. Check them out at www.tasunshineappeal.scot and if you have any good ideas with regards to fundraising then get in touch with them. He tells us about their event which took place on Friday with special guest Kevin Gallacher. An alternative Scotland eleven is selected from the Premiership clubs with one player having to be coach. There is a sneak preview in relation to some Football and Music specials we have planned so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for them. The Women

He's the guy that makes us all laugh with his funny take on what is happening in Scottish football. He joins the John's, the Scott's and Erin in a really fun podcast to do but also with some good football chat and serious stuff too. The nation continues to be in shock as Erin continues to reveal some interesting food choices which seem to get more bizarre by the week. We discuss how our teams got on in Europe and that leads on to the Rangers v Celtic game on Sunday and how fine margins can make such a difference. There is brief chat on where Celtic still need to strengthen. Next week we will discuss the transfer window in more detail. The podcast concludes with some chat about the upcoming Scotland fixtures which may prove to be difficult due to the players we have missed. Let's look at it positively though as it gives opportunities to others. Adam discusses some of his guests who has had o

We then discuss the chauvinistic stereotypes about women in football, in particular pundits and coaches, and Natasha highlights her examples from appear

The SWPL1 season kicks off in two weeks time (5 September) and we have a preview special ahead of the big kick-off with focus on four of the ten clubs taking part in the extended league. First up is returning guest Emma Hunter, Manager of Aberdeen Women. She led the Dons to a comprehensive SWPL2 title win with 16 wins from the 18 games played, and they are not in the top flight to make up the numbers as Emma points out the ambitions for the club going forward to push for a top half finish. With 15 of their 27 games being played away from home, something the club have challenged, Emma will be hoping that her girls are good travelers if they're to achieve their goals. We then chat to Motherwell captain Gill Inglis. • S11E6 The Joy of Six

    10/08/2021 Duración: 02h02min

For our latest episode regulars John, Erin, Scott J and Scott M are joined by guest Harry the Hibee. We kick off the show by discussing European action and who we think will manage to progress to the next round. There were some impressive results with only Rangers losing. This continued at the weekend as Rangers lost their first league game since the 2019/20 season. Is there a sign that they are vulnerable or is it just a blip? At the top end of the table Aberdeen are in an Edinburgh sandwich which leads to some bizarre football food chat. Everyone knows we love a bit of pie chat but sandwiches are following close behind currently. The upcoming return to capacity crowds excites everyone with there being some debate on whether fans help or hinder a team's performance. Other chat includes our Scottish Championship best kit competition on Twitter, Fantasy Football and the frustration of squad rotation and Lower League predictions game. The podcast concludes with paying tribute to Leanne Ross who announced h
