  • Just How Will It All End - Richard Franz

    03/08/2018 Duración: 05min

Hollywood directors, neighborhood movie theatres and sci-fi authors have for many years, with spectacular visuals, shown us dramatic theories on how society as we know it will end. A team of scientists from Oxford University’s Future of Humanity Institute and the Global Challenges Foundation, after researching the topic, even established a list of twelve possible ways that human civilization will end. • Plagues Of Pestilence - Roger Meyer

    03/08/2018 Duración: 04min

For centuries, plagues of pestilence have exacted a great death toll on humankind. The Ebola virus outbreak in 2014 had the world’s heath care community very concerned. It was declared to be a global emergency. Since March of 2014, the Ebola virus spread to numerous countries. Deaths mounted from it, and many feared a major epidemic. Since then, other diseases, like Zika, the avian flu out of Asia, Yellow Fever and Dengue fever (also in parts of Asia) and even newer strains of MRSA and others, have reared their ugly heads. Is a major pestilence outbreak in our future? Full text at https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/plagues-of-pestilence

  • Habit Breaking - Charles Knowlton

    03/08/2018 Duración: 03min

Reader's Digest a few years ago had a story about a woman who had been born blind but had her sight restored through a medical procedure. She had not let her blindness hold her back—she was married and had done her best to live a normal life. Then one day, a doctor suggested she try a new form of surgery. She did, and when the bandages were removed she cried, “I can see.” Indeed, she could physically see her husband for the very first time. • What Is Right With America? - J. Davy Crockett III

    03/08/2018 Duración: 04min

Once, while watching my 13-year-old grandson play a Little League baseball game in an All Star game on a summer’s afternoon, I watched the nation’s favorite pastime unfold in a good example of playing hard by the rules and accepting the outcome graciously. I observed the parents, coaches and umpires enjoying the game, and the lessons of life that the players were learning. I heard the cheers for good plays and the encouragement when the play didn’t turn out well. I realized that these parents and coaches spend a lot of time and effort teaching these boys the importance of fair play, developing skills and giving their best effort. • Memorial Day - Richard Franz

    03/08/2018 Duración: 04min

Memorial Day, declared officially by the United States Congress in 1971 as a national holiday, is observed in the U.S. on the last Monday of May. It is a day on which Americans commemorate the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. The observance of this day began soon after the end of the American Civil War and was initially known as Decoration Day—a day when people would decorate the graves of the fallen soldiers. • Where Am I? - Roger Meyer

    03/08/2018 Duración: 04min

At some time or another, we have all been temporarily lost—turned around, going the wrong way, on the wrong road, or at the wrong address. Perhaps we received bad directions, saw a misleading road sign or missed a turn, or encountered unforeseen obstacles in our path. How do we get to where we are trying to go? • A Game Of Chance - Adam J. West

    03/08/2018 Duración: 03min

Millions of men and women spend untold hours in the glitzy halls of casinos, while many others gather around octagon tables to play "friendly" games of "nickel" poker. Still others indulge in office sports pools, all the while hoping to cash in on the losers' money. Full text at https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/a-game-of-chance

  • The Sex Age - Wallace G. Smith

    23/05/2018 Duración: 03min

Archaeologists and anthropologists have labeled the many different ages in their models of the history of man, such as the “Stone Age” or the “Bronze Age.” Given its prominence in our current society, it would not be a wonder if future anthropologists were to label our culture the “Sex Age.” Full text here: https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-sex-age

  • The Peter Principle - J. Davy Crockett III

    23/05/2018 Duración: 04min

A quirky sense of humor and a cynical streak seem to have been the impetus for an interesting book, published years ago, entitled The Peter Principle by educational scholar Dr. Laurence J. Peter. It is a hilarious look at the pitfalls of a bureaucratic organization. The original premise of the author is that in a hierarchically structured organization, people tend to be promoted up through the ranks until they reach their “level of incompetence.” But what does that mean? One might hope that increased competence would equal higher responsibility. Full text here: https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-peter-principle

  • Discipline - Roger Meyer

    15/05/2018 Duración: 04min

Nearly everywhere we look these days, we can see a lack of discipline exhibited in Western society. It is especially evident to those of us who remember how things used to be a few decades ago. Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/discipline

  • A Strange Case - J. Davy Crockett III

    15/05/2018 Duración: 04min

In the late 1800s, a young Scotsman became a successful and widely read author. • Is Your Mind Boggled? - Roger Meyer

    15/05/2018 Duración: 04min

“That boggles my mind!” Many of us have made that exclamation when we were astonished or amazed upon seeing or hearing something incredible. The word “boggle” means to be astounded or overwhelmed. Is your mind boggled? Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/is-your-mind-boggled

  • Infrastructure and a Solid Foundation - Ben Maddox

    15/05/2018 Duración: 04min

Before anyone builds a structure, the first concern should be about setting a firm foundation. In our town, over a century ago, the community fathers mined coal using the room and pillar method, some 300 feet below the surface. Miners left pillars of coal to support the ceilings, and the rooms extended underground for miles. Later, methods developed to extract the pillars, and wood structures were placed to hold the roof. But the supports didn’t last. Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/infrastructure-and-a-solid-foundation

  • Peace In Korea? - Mark Sandor

    07/05/2018 Duración: 03min

Last Friday, North and South Korea announced a peace summit to end their 65-year conflict. While no battles have been fought in decades, an actual peace treaty to end the Korean War has never been signed. North Korea has been a rogue state since the 1950s and has recently worked defiantly to develop nuclear weapons and the rocket power to deliver them. A successful peace treaty could stabilize a region that has lived in the shadow of nuclear exchange for years.

  • Independence for Israel - "Out Of All Their Troubles" - William Williams

    07/05/2018 Duración: 04min

When modern Israel was founded in 1948, the newly-formed nation faced an uncertain future. The eyes of the world were upon it. From the moment Israel’s declaration of independence was signed on May 14, the endeavor was beset by many troubles. War came swiftly—when the new country’s angry neighbors attacked. Seventy years later, what is the condition of the nation that so many threatened to “drive into the sea?” Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/independence-for-israelout-of-all-their-troubles

  • Courage For The Journey - Charles Knowlton (1927-2013)

    07/05/2018 Duración: 04min

In 1839, a want ad appeared in a New York newspaper: “Wanted: a few good men to train for a dangerous, low pay, weather exposed assignment.” Applicants would need to leave behind their former walks of life and become expert horsemen. The agency that placed the ad was swamped with replies, but not every applicant proved to be up to the challenge. Many were called, but ultimately—as the ad indicated—relatively few were chosen. Thus the Pony Express was formed. Full text at - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/courage-for-the-journey

  • "I Have Good News And Bad News" - Roger Meyer

    07/05/2018 Duración: 03min

“I have bad news and good news. Which do you want to hear first?” This is a premise of some jokes and also of some serious diagnoses. No one wants to hear bad news, while we all love good news. Prophets of God and Jesus Christ Himself delivered both bad news and good news. Read the rest at - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/i-have-bad-news-and-good-news

  • Amnesia - Rand Millich

    26/04/2018 Duración: 05min

Once the nation of the United States of America was established, what role did religion play in the years following? Was there a wall of separation between religion and the state? Many believe that the Founding Fathers delivered the nation from the influence of religion and the Bible. Let us examine the facts. Full text -https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/amnesia
