So sit down and chill and lets talk about what you need to do to be a "profitable artist" and the turmoil that can create as a creative. You can find out more about Lauren via:https://linktr.ee/pinchpaintsAvailable also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 267 - How to be a creative co-signer
25/10/2024 Duración: 24minCall it a bad habit, call me an enabler but it seems everyone I meet i encourage to make something. This could be a fundamental flaw in myself but if I have a goal that goal is to convince everyone to explore creating. This is not to say everyone could and should be an artist but there is nothing stopping you exploring putting pencil to pad, paper to paper or baked good in a bowl to discover the fun of invention though creation so lets talk about my history of that and how talking to me can be somewhat dangerous for your free time.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 265 - Finding an audience VS fear of having one.
27/09/2024 Duración: 24minThis week I sit down to talk about you! Finding and audience for your work can be hard and everyone and their aunty is out there telling you how to build and grow your views and clicks. So this week I sit down to talk about the other side of it. What about the fear of actually having one? Being held to account and needing to be kept in line because your audience begins dictating what you can and cannot make? I think this is something which stops artists and even myself promoting our work to the nth degree as we worry about losing that freedom to just make.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 263 - The Art of Investment in AI art.
30/08/2024 Duración: 27minThis week we talk money and how the in reality these investments in art "art" are really short sighted financially. By alienating the creative user base companies are going to quickly find themselves in the process of needing unique ideas. Something AI cannot generate without theft. There is also the question of financial return. If you invest a few thousand in an art art engine and then need people to maintain and manufacture within it you're going to quickly get replicated, packaged and need to work near constantly to stay ahead but what happens if you spend a couple grand on an individual? So make a one off? To make a unique piece you can profit on for hundreds of years?Lets talk about that.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 262 - Is "Sign here" worth it when art is involved? Feat Emma Loughlin
16/08/2024 Duración: 01h32sThis week i sit down with good friend of mine Emma Louhglin! Emma and I have known each other for a few years now and actually did the terrible dangerous thing of chatting via the internet first when i was streaming throughout the pandemic! Turns out we ended up living in the same area but she is in her own right a talented marketing manager working in New York within the music scene! With a history in small music and big music we often chat about bands and the direction of labels and media so we thought we'd finally take a moment to sit and do a deep dive on it and ask what the kids think of art. How Gen Z are getting their beginnings with no managers, no publicists and no venues to play and how getting started with Art can sometimes be the biggest challenge!Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 261 - What happens to passion when it's focused on pineapple on pizza?
02/08/2024 Duración: 25minThis week we focus on the big questions the non trivial internet answers. What happens when your mind is so focused on small arguments that you expunge your energy and thoughts into the simple idea of putting a fruit on a pie? I tend not to get dragged into internet arguments, even in real life i avoid these kinds of asks because I have other things to focus on. Bigger questions I want answers too like Just where is Carmen Sandiego. So lets explore. Explore the energy you spend on the correct pronunciation of Scone, the idea of Pineapple on Pizza and who makes the best bagel and instead just say ok. Now lets move on. Episode 259 - Can you Gentrify a mind?
05/07/2024 Duración: 24minDuring a very recent solo podcast I talking about how the internet had become gentrified and in a world of online subscriptions, ad block and internet gate keeping we were in a different age. And Along with that I had another thought. Can you gentrify a human being? A mind? A thought? It's something I believe I've witnessed. Something where those who didn't have money no longer appreciate the simple idea of the free item or the low cost option because the price tag had made it worthless to them.So lets pick that scab a little more and ask. Can you gentrify a mind?Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 258 - Finding your sound in the online noise Feat @PostageTramps
28/06/2024 Duración: 01h03minThis week we break new ground with the most people I've ever had on an episode on an episode!I'm hanging out with local New York based band @PostageTramps . Comprised of members : Tristan, Julian, Sophia and Akshay they have been doing what artists do best and finding their sound and space within NYC. That's not an easy route to take especially in NY and with online spaces dominating new music. But I think they are talented and lovely people so figured we should talk to them.So we sit down to talk, the industry, Live shows vs online, Billy Joel and where an new indie band finds themselves in an ever changing online space when they are just getting started. If you're in NY I suggest giving them a follow and checking them out they are often playing and if you're not give them a listen on the various platforms.find more of themhttps://postagetramps.neocities.org/https://soundcloud.com/postagetrampshttps://www.instagram.com/postagetramps/https://www.youtube.com/@PostageTrampshttps://www.youtube.com/@P

Episode 257 - Getting evicted from the internet.
07/06/2024 Duración: 24minThis week I get a little nostalgic. I get a little reminiscent and I get a little honest about how I was a few weeks back. The older internet was a free place but not completely free. But it was just enough that you could find random spaces and hang out there with no need to buy anything or watch an advert or even pay attention because they couldn't even collect your details! So lets sit down and talk about that and how slowly but surely they are gentrifying the internet.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. 10/05/2024 Duración: 28minHow do you count value in art?How do you know how much you will pay for anything? Is it an hourly rate? Based on how much you'd spend on coffee? 26/04/2024 Duración: 55minThis week I sit down with fantastic artist Warren Wright. I came across Warren whilst exploring my love of stop motion and was instantly taken with the playful nature of his work. Having been artistic and exploring different mediums for years Warren has been in illustration, cartoons and currently is getting critical acclaim for his film making with dollmations. So we sat down to talk artistic and personal journeys in one of the most open interviews I've had the pleasure of conducting in a long time as we talk, the past the future and everything in between. You should check out Warren's youtube @74renren and also follow his work on:https://www.instagram.com/warrencito/https://www.warrencito.com/Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 253 - Seven things you cant say on Youtube.
12/04/2024 Duración: 44minThe internet is an odd place, as discussed recently with WTF Pots the length and breadth of what can get you in hot water with the powers that be of any platform is a real challenge for artists and not just in the modern era. In 1966 Lenny Bruce listed out nine words he'd been arrested for in 1972 George Carlin made a statement on his album Class Clown to follow it up with seven words you cant say on TV. So I thought I'd channel my inner stand up and change the format slightly and discuss all the things you cant discuss on Youtube without the watchful eye of the moderators taking a look. As we discuss not the topics themselves but the premise of what these items create you too can join us as we talk about how to get banned on Youtube. Here's hoping it doesn't get taken down.Available also on:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. Episode 251 - The fundamentals of creating.
15/03/2024 Duración: 31minThe first fundamental of creating is "F*** your fundamentals" Or rather that the best way to create anything is to consider that your core values and what you're looking to get out of things is often different to someone else.So whether you're looking to understand the fundamentals of photography, Illustration, sculpture, baking, building, music or anything which requires some level of method and technique to complete My first suggestion is to simply just try and work with what you have and then build on top of your first fail. As someone who fully utilizes visual language as a way of communicating and with a podcast which is based around encouraging discussion and communication it felt about the right time to sit down and catch up.In doing so this week we discuss just how little we know of one another despite both of us having a fairly solid online presence and how we've know each other through other people for years but are both very guarded with our own lives. In a world where people are living online and exposing every inch of their day it was great to catch up. Talk a little personally of the why we are as we are and see just what we could learn! You can find more of Sarah via :https://www.instag

Episode 249 - You don't still watch cartoons do you?
16/02/2024 Duración: 24minWho watches cartoons? Should adults watch cartoons? Is it ok to enjoy cartoons? Mystery ain't it. It seems a generational divide more than anything where adults who play with lego, parents who play video games and people who enjoy oddity are setup to be knocked down when they meet people who are older. This week I wax lyrical on a topic of when i was questioned by an older woman in a lift and discuss how your interest in novelty doesn't define how good or bad you are at taking responsibility within your own life.
