This week i sit down with Nerdcore prodigy Lex The Lexicon Artist. Lex is a rapper and artist with hugely interesting background and I'll be honest I'm a big fan of her work so I got chance to fan out a little. We sit down to talk the music industry and how it's evolving including artist rights, the risks artists take and how its necessary to keep evolving your work and stepping away from their origins. covering everything from K-pop synthesized catharsis and of course Lex's deep seated interest in anime and gaming. Please check out Lex's work here:http://thelexiconartist.comhttps://Twitter.com/lextheconartist http://thelexiconartist.bandcamp.com http://YouTube.com/c/thelexiconartist http://patreon.com/lextheconartistItuneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteFor more of Graham visitwww.facebook.com/yellingatconcretewww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretehttps://yellingatconcret

  • Episode 150 - There is no timeline

    03/04/2021 Duración: 22min

This week i sit down to talk about my apparent nihilistic point of view which has also been eluded to as a zen calm. Neither of which i see of course as i get to be inside my head! But for episode 150 I thought i'd sit and discuss my death and how an acceptance of my own mortality frees me up for many other things whether it be creative or otherwise.Because there is no timeline.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteFor more of Graham visitwww.facebook.com/yellingatconcretewww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretehttps://yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.com/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 149 - There is power in putting paint on a canvas Feat Yanna Law

    19/03/2021 Duración: 01h03min

This week I sit down with a slightly nervous Yanna Law, Yanna is a painter based in Lincolnshire and creates stunning surreal often ornate paintings. Through mutual friends we crossed paths and found we both shared a common goal of using art as cathartic motivation and a blunt attitude with how we present ourselves. So we sit down to talk how painting helped her cope with darker moments in life. How education wasn't an experience which was conducive of building her into the fantastic artist she is today and overall the progress you can make by just experimenting and exploring what you are capable off!You can find Yanna at the following locationshttps://www.instagram.com/world_of_yanna_art/https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/theBohemianTRIBEYoutubewww.youtube.com/yellingatconcrete Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteFor more of Graham visitwww.facebook.com/yellingatconcretew

  • Episode 148 - What I found in "The Founder"

    12/03/2021 Duración: 27min

I watch a lot of biopics, a lot of true crime a lot of stories based on stories and it's a very mixed bag. Some are glorious and detailed and unfold a life you could only wish to live and so dive vicariously through the window into them. Others are trashy and awful car crashes which you cannot look away from and some are dramatic over exaggerations of what in reality are very simple events and some. Some are just bad, badly told badly done bad.I recently watched "The founder" which is about mcdonalds and stars a favorite actor of mine Michael Keaton and I couldn't place it in my above categories. It felt wrong it felt a little bit forced and really I couldn't figure out what it actually wanted to say so this week i sit down for a little media critical thinking as i think why we like these genres and why this one just was not right.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcrete

  • Episode 147 - When did you realise you exist? Feat Sam Saint

    05/03/2021 Duración: 01h04min

This week i sit down with illustration artist Sam Saint, She creates these fantastic pictures of moments in time which offer a voyeuristic view of the world and have a real peace to them. We sit down to discuss how thats become a thing of comfort to the people who commission her work and how she got into creating. All the while we compare and contrast notes on just when we were really aware of our own existence, of our mortality of being at place in the world and where that landed us. We have very different approaches to our work and out histories but we share surprising amount of similarities as well.so the question for you is when did you realise you exist? You can check out Sam's work athttps://www.facebook.com/samsaintart/https://www.instagram.com/samsaintart/Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteFor more of Graham visitwww.facebook.com/yellingatconcretewww.instagram

  • Episode 146 - Choose a hostile audience on occasion.

    19/02/2021 Duración: 27min

This week i get reflective on feedback.Having exposed my work and self to the world throughout the lock-down periods I have had my fair share of positive and negative encouragement and received many a question about how i handle criticism so I wanted to look into that a little more. I think it's good to have the occasional negative comment because it allows you to really balance your work outside of the echo chamber which can be your friends, family and people who already know your style. This can be dangerous for your self esteem though so it's important to remember you don't know your audiences day. Someone might be hurting, might be out to create chaos and usually these people are the ones who bring you down. In the same sense you should remember that often the audience doesn't actually know what it wants as a creator it's your job to tell them.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/y

  • Episode 145 - Surreal art & cathartic escapes Feat Madeleine Rhondeau

    12/02/2021 Duración: 01h08min

This week i got to sit down with one of my favorite contemporary painters, an artist i have followed for many years on Instagram Madeleine Rhondeau is a painter and collage artist and all round lovely person. We got together to talk not only why we both create more visually dark imagery but also to talk how surrealist work has evolved and how women have taken the fore front of that development.Madeleine isn't concerned with "pretty" art or depicting the female form as something visually pleasing and so explores the form and shape of toying with those perceptions and during 2020 started including collage in her work which allowed us to get into details such as how to deal with your work being referenced and the effect it has of people comparing your work to others they see.Overall we had an in-depth talk on creating and learn more about that process and as a "fan" of hers i suggest you check out her work!http://mrhondeau.com/about-mehttps://www.instagram.com/merhondeau/Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podca

  • Episode 144 - Comfort in coffins.

    05/02/2021 Duración: 21min

Why are you so weird? Counter point, why are you so normal? This week we get a little dark so a warning for those struggle with death and other such topics as we discuss just how i ended up covering the darker side of life and why I'm so comfortable with it. Hopefully giving those with kids they dont understand a little insight into why they may be leaning toward more "dark" content but also telling those of us who have a noir side that what we've done is pretty natural.I got into horror/death/art/lattes at a younger age and used it as a defense and still do but as a society i think we need more of it so lets talk about why.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteFor more of Graham visitwww.facebook.com/yellingatconcretewww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretehttps://yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.com/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 142 - This is mine now
