Zachary Lubin is a Chicago based DJ. He has been DJing and producing electronic music for nearly thirty years. Zachary's DJ sets and productions span a wide variety of styles- from techno and electro to house and soul/disco. He is not only influenced by great teachers and influencers in the music scene, but other major influences include art, architecture, industry, science-fiction films, and urban decay. Zachary Lubin also runs his own label Obvio Records. The label was founded in 1982 as a reggae label by his father. Obvio is now a channel for eclectic electronic musical experiments focusing on concepts and innovation. Aside from his own material on Obvio, Zachary has released on Jeff Mills' sub-label of Axis Records 6277, Modularz, Kimochi, Nighttripper, UntilMyHeartStops, and Liebe Detail, among others. I think we can say Zachary Lubin is a very busy man. So I am more than thrilled he found the time to create an exclusive set for us. Sets which combine different emotions are the one that inspire me the most. That is what I did this week as well. The main drive is of course techno, but I included drones and melodies where I thought they should be. While mixing the set it also reminded me of the Global Underground series which I was a really big fan of. I am a big fan of Nick Warren, and the last part of this set has the same feeling. The podcast has been about Techno from the early beginnings. But besides Techno, I really like exploring the boundaries of what electronic music can be. I follow a lot of artists and I have discovered so much beautiful music in the last decade. Some of the tracks don't fit within the sets I usually create. But I really have the need to do something with it. Aftertouch is a podcast I once created as a playground to experiment, but was not active for a long time. This is a reboot and will be posted in the Low Frequency stream. Aftertouch will focus on Ambient, IDM, Noise, Drones, Soundscapes,... You name it. The purpose is to create a mind blowing experience. Some space where you can loose yourself, or find yourself, be creative, unwind or just the opposite. There will be no taking in the podcast, just music. That should speak for itself.
