First Impressions And Building Culture - Will Healy, Head Coach, Charlotte

He is an Eddie Robinson Award winner as the 2017 National FCS Coach of the Year, In 2018, he came to the 49ers from Austin Peay, where he spent three years infusing energy and enthusiasm into that program while engineering one of the greatest turnarounds in college football history. Healy led Charlotte to its own historic season. In first first season, Charlotte (7-6; 5-3 in C-USA) set school records for most wins (7), most Conference USA wins (5) and most home wins (5) while advancing to the school’s first bowl game. Charlotte won a school-record five straight games to end the regular-season and earn a bid to the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl. Along the way, Healy unveiled “Club Lit”, a post-game dance celebration in the 49ers locker room that brought national attention to the program. He has had an immediate and positive impact on the program and the community in a short period of time. He’s turned the program around by instilling his 210 Triangle of Toughness culture which he talks about in this segment from the 2nd Annual Lauren’s First and Goal Clinic. The Gilmer, Texas, native took over a team that won a combined seven games in the two seasons prior to his arrival and has led the Roadrunners to a 19-7 record in his first two , the best two-year span by any UTSA coach. UUTSA enjoyed a record-setting campaign in 2021. The Roadrunners won their first 11 games, were nationally ranked (as high as No. 15) for the first time in school history and captured the program’s first league title by winning the Conference USA Championship with a 49-41 victory over WKU on Dec. 3. 17/03/2022 Duración: 26minWith the Quarterback being the most visible position on the field, a QB controversy can be the wedge that divides a team and fractures culture within a team and its larger community. By having a subjective system, this situation can be avoided and not only clearly define the starter but also serve as a tool for QB developement. This is a system which we put together in 2010 when we faced a heated battle for the starting quarterback position. Our three-year starter was graduating and we had three freshmen battling to be in the number one spot at the beginning of their sophomore year. That year I used three criteria to help me objectively distinguish the starter from the back-ups. After doing that, I realized I could develop the criteria further to not only slot each quarterback in a position, but also give the position group valuable information about where they needed to improve.
