1980's Battle Beyond the Stars A farm boy recruits a band of outlaws to save the planet Akir from forces that threaten to wipe them out from the face of the universe. A battle stretching beyond the stars begins here. This low budget sci fi version of Seven Samurai is, well, a low budget version of that classic movie.  It has a wide range of characters and locations.  The ships look terrible and the acting is hilarous.  The film score is amazing and led James Horner to land the Wrath of Khan film, so we can be thankful for that.  Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2023's Rebel Moon - Part one: A child of fire When a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon finds itself threatened by a tyrannical ruling force, a stranger living among its villagers becomes their best hope for survival. On our first episode of our month of Sta Wars Adjacent films.  This movie definatly has Kurasawa vibes and really tries to have the look and feel of a Star Wars film.  Does it land it? or does it explode like the Death Star? 2019's Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. We wrap up family movie night month with this fun buddy cop film, starring Ryran Reynolds and Justice Smith.  This film has it's moments and it's pretty fun and silly and also kinda dumb.  But it's good for the family.   Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2022's Slumberland  A young girl discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of Slumberland, and with the help of an eccentric outlaw, she traverses dreams and flees nightmares, with the hope that she will be able to see her late father again. 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem  The Turtle brothers work to earn the love of New York City while facing down an army of mutants. Cowabunga dudes, we review the newest vision of the TMNT franshize.  This film is a new origin story of the classic turtles.  The art style is unique and deserves being praised for a bold choice.  Join us as we talk about the things we like, the things we didn't and Shawn nickpicks dumb stuff.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2020's Mulan  To keep her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man and battles northern invaders in China. This live action remake of the 1998 anumanted film, is not the same type of remake like the others.  This movie takes more risks and doesn't do a shot for shot remake.  Does the movie suffer for it? Or benift? 2023's Blue Beelte  An alien scarab chooses Jaime Reyes to be its symbiotic host, bestowing the recent college graduate with a suit of armor that's capable of extraordinary powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle. We end our month of DC film reivews with Blue Beetle.  Is it great? 2023's Shazam: Fury of the Gods  he film continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!" is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam. Andrew and Shawn dive in to the sequel to the fun Shazam film staring Zachary Levi.  Is it as good as the first? Is it fun and quirky like the first? 2023's Aquaman 2 Black Manta seeks revenge on Aquaman for his father's death. Wielding the Black Trident's power, he becomes a formidable foe. To defend Atlantis, Aquaman forges an alliance with his imprisoned brother. They must protect the kingdom. 1994's Lightning Jack  Lightning Jack Kane is an Australian outlaw in the wild west. During a bungled bank robbery he picks up mute Ben Doyle as a hostage. The two become good friends, with Jack teaching Ben how to rob banks, while they plan Jack's last heist. Andrew and Shawn watch a film from Andrews past, one Shawn had never heard of.  But what a fun romp of a movie.  If you like the Crocodile Dundee movies then you'll enjoy this.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2017's The Hitman's Bodyguard One of the world's top bodyguards gets a new client, a world class hitman who must testify at the International Criminal Court. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial alive and on time.   Shawn loves this film, but did he hype it up too much? Did Andrew and Sam also like it? 1984's Johnny Dangerously  Set in the 1930s, an honest, good-hearted man is forced to turn to a life of crime to finance his neurotic mother's sky-rocketing medical bills. As we're short staffed this week, Andrew and Shawn do a watch a-long of a early 80s comedy that Shawn has seen some of.  This farce comedy of 1920's gansters stars Michael Keaton in one of his first rolls.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2023's Barbie Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. We were all surprised by how much we loved this movie.  Go watch it! 2024's Lift  Follows a master thief and his Interpol Agent ex-girlfriend who team up to steal $500 million in gold bullion being transported on an A380 passenger flight. We review this Netflix original film starring Kevin Hart and a bunch other people.  We all thought the film would be funny and filled with Kevin Hart stuff but it was just another heist film.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good.   

2023's Renfield  Renfield, Dracula's henchman and inmate at the lunatic asylum for decades, longs for a life away from the Count, his various demands, and all of the bloodshed that comes with them.  We reviewed this very fun vampire flick thats kinda a sequel to the 1930's Dracula.  Did Shawn pick this movie to harras Andrew? 2022's Weird: the Al Yankovic Story Explores every facet of Yankovic's life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like 'Eat It' and 'Like a Surgeon' to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. We start the new year with a movie about an artist near and dear to us, Weird Al.  Shawn is very sick and does his best not to cough all over the show.  Also Sam and Andrew get a surprise about how the film was going to go.  Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood Film Industry for the greater good 

2022's Violent Night  When a group of mercenaries attack the estate of a wealthy family, Santa Claus must step in to save the day (and Christmas). 1996's Jingle All the Way A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one. 2023's Across the Spiderverse  Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero. We review the middle film in the Spiderverse trilogy and holey (get it?) crap this is a fantastic film.
