  • Live Delay - Ep 126 - HITS; Zeahorse

    29/10/2015 Duración: 55min

HITS: The first band we’re going to hear from have a no-nonsense name that confidently describes the caliber of songs they write. That band’s name is HITS. Having just celebrated their tenth anniversary as a band, they’ve lived more in that time than some bands would dare to imagine. With the twin guitar attack of Tamara Dawn and Stacey Coleman, vicious vocals from Dick Richards and solid backbone of Andy Buchanan and Gregor Mulvey, their live show effortlessly blow the minds of punters that come in contact with their extremely loud take on rock music. The latest record from HITS, 2014’s ‘Hikikomori’ was produced by legendary rock’n’roll figure Rob Younger, he of Radio Birdman and New Christs fame, and has been getting rave reviews from not only Australia, but Europe too. 29/10/2015 Duración: 55min

Sex On Toast: Sex On Toast are a funked up lot, specialising in overblown choreography and onstage antics, these new-jack swingers feel ripped straight from another era. Last month saw the release of their brand new single, “Oh Loretta”, a throwback track that could have been recorded in the 70’s, but is nevertheless yesterday fresh. Equal parts righteous and ridiculous, Sex On Toast are known for their raucous and engaging live shows. The group we’re talking about is BigStrongBrute, the moniker adopted by sole songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Donoughue. Starting out as a solo outlet, has morphed into a multi-headed live show, at times as many as 8 people strong creating a wall of folk melody. His 2010 EP release ‘We Can Sleep Under Trees In The Morning’ got many ears paying attention. Bigstrongbrute’s debut album, 2012’s ‘Avalanche Of Truth’, really got people excited, as it displayed the many different flavours of this talented individual. • Live Delay - Ep 118 - Front End Loader; The Vasco Era

    29/10/2015 Duración: 56min

Front End Loader: Starting out in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst, Front End Loader’s music has been described as spiky and strange, the perfect thing to impale the lovely vocal harmonies they make and an even more appropriate complement to a dress-sense kindly described as ‘bizarre’. Over the years it’s carried them through six full-lengths, eight EPs and innumerable songs with titles such as “Weak As Piss” or “4 Star Heritage Arsehole”, which you’ll hear in this set. Unlike most Australian musicians of a similar vintage, Front End Loader never had the good grace to give-up. Their most recent album, “Ritardando” was released on their own Weeping Anus records and, in an embarrassing and somewhat confused gesture, took home the best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album ARIA award for 2011. None of the band could afford -or probably could’ve been arsed, even if they did have the cash- to turn up and instead sent their slightly more industry friendly mate Lindsay from Frenzal Rhomb with these words: “As you were … p

  • Live Delay - Ep 120 - White Walls; Secret Black

    29/10/2015 Duración: 56min

White Walls: Starting in the early-2010’s, White Walls been tagged as as a Shoegaze band, but I think that’s discounting the whole picture. The 3-piece band consist of Dylan Black & Fuj McLean on guitars, and Rory Heane on Drums. The lack of a bass player is not missed in this trio’s sound, as the thunderous guitars more than make up the frequency band that makes you bob your head. Releasing two EP’s in 2011, and their 2012 self-titled debut, they’ve slowly but surely been winning new followers that come in contact with their sound. Recently they were up in Queensland for the Sonic Masala Festival and we managed to capture the raw essence of the band live. Recorded & Mixed by Branko Cosic. Recorded at the Greenslopes Bowls Club on the 14th of March, 2015. Secret Black: Secret Black is an instrumental group consisting of Adam Cadell (The Scrapes), Jamie Curran (Ghost Notes, Built From Sticks), Adrian Marsh (4ZZZ’s Rusted Satellites, Ghost Notes) and Dave Ryan (Dempefka). This recording is currently th

  • Live Delay - Ep 121 - Fat; Tiny Migrants

    29/10/2015 Duración: 56min

Fat: Starting out in 1989 whilst on a short residence in Melbourne, FAT started out as a 3-piece band. Within months, they travelled back to their hometown of Brisbane and started playing as many shows as possible in the burgeoning local scene. During the 90’s, the band kept growing from strength to strength, gaining national radio airplay, playing on some of the country’s largest stages, including a stint on the Big Day Out, and even a APRA nomination for ‘Song Of The Year’ for Man In The Iron Helmet. Towards the end of the 90’s, their record label had folded and overall morale in the band started to wane, so they decided to go into indefinite hiatus. That is until 2012, when they got together for a jam and realized that they still had the fire in them. They released ‘Blue Meets Black’ in 2013 and marked the mighty return of Fat. Recorded & Mixed by Branko Cosic. Recorded at The Triffid on the 3rd of May, 2015. Tiny Migrants: Hailing from the wild and ragged Ric’s scene in Brisbane’s late noughties, Ti

  • Live Delay - Ep 123 - Asha Jefferies; Skullcave

    29/10/2015 Duración: 55min

Asha Jefferies: Growing up in Brisbane, Asha Jefferies has many musical influences, including Ben Harper, Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins and Jeff Buckley. At the age of 11, Asha started playing guitar and soon after started writing songs. Her songs are characterised by distinctively silky, smoky vocals, and beautiful lyrical melodies expressing experiences of the heart and observations of the human dimension. She regularly plays at Woodford Folk Festival, Regional Flavours Festival, Cleveland Buzz Festival, and the Urban Country Music Festival and has toured to the Darling, Southern & Western Downs with fRETfEST. Recorded & Mixed by Branko Cosic. Recorded at the 4ZZZ Car Park on the 18th of April, 2015. Skullcave: Skullcave are Perth’s newest doom pop / shoegaze trio. Following in the tradition of bands like The Melvins, Philm and Pelican, Skullcave combine bass-driven post-metal riffs that swell underneath echoing pop vocals & hard-hitting drums. Skullcave have achieved a dark, heavy sound, straddling the b

  • Live Delay - Ep 124 - Total Control; Dead Farmers

    29/10/2015 Duración: 55min

Total Control: Total Control are a post-punk/electronic quintet, and have been active since 2008. On record, namely 2011’s ‘Henge Beat’ and 2014’s ‘Typical System’, their electronic sound is much more obvious, whereas their live presence is stripped of devices and become a raw punk band with urgency in their vains. Devo & Orchestral Manoeuvers In The Dark have been mentioned as influences, and while that’s definitely on show, there’s also a heavy debt to the psych/krautrock sounds of the 70’s. Recorded by Ben Moore @ Harvest Recordings. Mixed by Harvey O’Sullivan. Mastered by Mikey Young. Recorded at The Standard in Sydney on the 5th of February, 2014. Dead Farmers: Hailing from Sydney, garage-punkers Dead Farmers sprouted up through the cracks of Australia’s largest city’s underbelly and began rocking audiences in the mid-2000’s. Very reminiscent of the Detroit rock scene that produced bands such as The Stooges and MC5, they self-recorded their latest album ‘Wasteland’ straight onto half-inch tape fre

  • Live Delay - Ep 116 - Love Of Diagrams; God Bows To Math

    15/04/2015 Duración: 56min

Love Of Diagrams: Forming in 2001, Love Of Diagrams started out as an instrumental band, releasing their debut album ‘The Target Is You’ in 2003 and then slowly bringing vocals into the fold with their follow up EP ‘We Got Communication’. 2007 saw them sign with massive independent label Matador Records and the worldwide release of ‘Mosaic’ their 2nd album to very kind critical reviews. There was a 6 year gap between their 3rd album ‘Nowhere Forever’ and their brand new album ‘Blast’, which came out last month on Bedroom Suck Records. Recorded & mixed by Paul Maybury & Joe Fairburn. Recorded at PBS FM Studios, Melbourne on the 3rd of February, 2015. God Bows To Math: Taking their name from a song on The Minutemen’s ‘Double Nickels On The Dime’, Auckland’s God Bows To Math are fairly regular visitors to Australian shores. Proudly DIY, the New Zealand trio have performed their unique noise adventures at over 200 performances during their six year career. Their self-titled debut hit the shelves in 2011 and
