Live Delay is 4ZZZ FM / ZED Digitals premier live music roundup.Traversing the lucky continents feverish live music scene, we close in and showcase a particular Australian zone each week, chewing away at some very special live recordings of independent artists.Made collaboratively with the assistance of many live-wired Australian community broadcasters, Live Delay is produced at 4ZZZ, Brisbane and distributed nationally by Community Radio Network, and in South East Asia by Frequency Asia.Catch brand new episodes every Saturday at 4pm on the Community Radio Network, every Sunday at 7pm on Zed Digital, and every Monday at 6pm on Frequency Asia. Combining outrageous costumes and quirky stage projections with their polyrhythmic surf punk sound, the Gametes have created an enthralling piece of performance art, earning them a reputations as one of Brisbane’s best live bands. 16/09/2018 Duración: 55minRegurgitator: Brisbane’s own Regurgitator formed in 1994 originally as a side project for members Quan Yeomans (guitar, vocals), Ben Ely (bass, vocals) and Martin Lee (drums). Quickly signing to Warner, the band released 2 EP’s before their first full length Tu-Plang in 1996. Following up with Unit a year later, The ‘Gurge solidified themselves as Australia’s premier alternative rock band. A slew of ARIA’s, a new drummer (Front End Loaders’ Peter Kostic), a reality TV show, a best of and a whole heap of record sales followed. The band have released a total of 10 studio albums with their latest Headroxx released in August 2018 through Valve Records, a label run by longtime manager Paul Curtis. RACKETT are made up of Bec Callander on guitar and vocals, Kat Ayala on lead guitar, Ally Gavin on bass, and Astrid Holz on drums. Based in Sydney, the band have been steadily rising since their inception in 2016, releasing their debut EP Ready Or Not in 2017 with Dave Hammer (Washington, Thundamentals, Born Lion) producing. Since then Rackett have played in major theatres and festivals throughout Australia, receiving regular airplay on community radio and reaching the finals of the inaugural VB Hard Yards competition in 2017. They have supported the likes of DZ Deathrays, The Darkness, Killing Heidi and Bleached, also appearing at Groovin the Moo (2018), Festival of the Sun and Secret Garden Festival. The four piece are known for their extremely energetic live performances and fiercely DIY ethos. 08/07/2018 Duración: 55minHelmet: Recorded & mixed by Branko Cosic Recorded at the Brightside, Brisbane, 30th April 2017 The original Helmet line up, consisting of Page Hamilton on guitar and vocals, Brisbane-born Peter Mengede on guitar, Henry Bogdan on bass and John Stainer on drums, formed in 1989 in New York City. Quickly signing to Amphetamine Reptile Records, they release their debut album Strap It On the year after. This led the band to be signed by Interscope Records in early 1992, with label mates including Primus, Nine Inch Nails, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Their first Interscope release Meantime (1992) was certified gold and remains Helmets biggest commercial success to date. Betty (1994) soon followed, bringing the band to our shores to play the now legendary Livid Festival 1994 line up featuring Beastie Boys, Superchunk, Frank Black and Tumbleweed. Formed in 2010, garage-surf inspired Some Jerks have been making waves since the release of their self titled EP in 2011. Recorded & mixed by Skritch, their debut album Buddy Rich Made Me Cry came the following year and received extensive play on community radio, with a number of tracks placing highly in 4ZZZ’s Hot 100. 2016 saw Some Jerks release their 2nd LP Strange Ways on Pig City Records. The album was voted as the Best album of 2016 by the combined 4zzz announcers, and was included in the top 10 under the radar Australian releases, by The Guardians Kate Hennessy. 10/06/2018 Duración: 55minFeedtime: Engineered by Alicia Saye Recorded at PBS FM Studio’s, Melbourne, 22nd June 2017 Feedtime was formed in Sydney in the late 70’s. They’ve been described as “A blues-noise… equal parts abstract minimalism and working class roots-rock. Post-punk, yet right in the thick of it; miles ahead of the pack and not many seemed to notice.” (PBS FM 2017) The original line up released 4 albums on Aberrant Records in the US, UK and Europe as well as Australia throughout the 1980’s before splitting in 1989. The band reformed with a new drummer in the mid 90’s, this time releasing Billy through Amphetamine Reptile records and completed tours with The Damned and Unsane. The latter also appearing on a 7 inch split with feedtime in 1996. Apart from the odd reunion show, the band remained quiet for a long time before reforming their original line up to record Gas which was released via In The Red in 2017. Permanent Marker, her debut EP, was released via Shiny Records in 2005. She then became Jen Cloher & The Endless Sea, which featured a rotating line up of musicians including Laura Jean, Jen Sholakis, Biddy Connor, Tom Healy, Geoffrey Dunbar, Michael Hubbard and Ross Calia. Jen Cloher & The Endless Sea released two full lengths, 2006’s Dead Wood Falls and 2009’s Hidden Hands, both which received critical acclaim and we’re toured extensively throughout the country. To date they have released six Top 10 gold and platinum studio albums, a double album of B-sides, a double Best-Of album, a DVD, a live album, three e.p’s, a book to go with a mountain of singles. From the early days the band built a varied fan base in Melbourne, recording a 7 track demo tape (which was later released as The Answer to Both Your Questions EP in 1996) that sold out of multiple pressings. While also playing as a part of Empat Lima, Biscotti allows Ori to fashion evocative sounds which create otherworldly landscapes and guide the listener through different scenes. Her first EP titled Make Me Feel Good was released independently in 2013 which lead Biscotti to perform nationally and internationally at music festivals such at Falls Festival, Wide Open Space and Mata Air Festival (Indonesia). 29/04/2018 Duración: 55minProtomartyr: Detroit based musicians Greg Ahee (guitar) and Alex Leonard (drums) first began performing as a duo under the name Butt Babies. Soon they were joined by Joe Casey on vocals and once Scott Davidson joined the band on bass, Butt Babies transformed into Protomartyr. The band signed to Urinal Cake Records and released their debut album, No Passion All Technique in 2012 which was followed by 2014’s Under Color of Official Right in April 2014 via Hardly Art records. The critically acclaimed The Agent Intellect, followed in October 2015, as well as extensive touring throughout the US and Europe. After signing to Domino in 2017 their fourth effort saw the band make the long trek out to our shores to play a set of songs spanning their whole career. TFS is what some would consider an Australian supergroup, consisting of Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin (The Drones), Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Harmony/Palm Springs). The band made their live debut across the US in late 2017 supporting Band Of Horses and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. 01/04/2018 Duración: 55minSpiderbait Janet, Whitt and Kram - The three founding members of Spiderbait, began jamming in the shed of Janet’s family’s farm in the rural NSW township of Finley. They soon relocated to Melbourne and were quickly signed to Au-Go-Go Records and released their debut album Shashavaglava in May 1993. From there they quickly consolidated their status as national treasures, Signing to Polydor and releasing a string of successful albums, which have all racked up gold, platinum or double platinum status. One of these albums was their ARIA award winning effort Ivy And The Big Apples, which they toured to celebrate 20 years since its initial release in 1997. 18/03/2018 Duración: 55minGyroscope: Forming originally as Gyroscope Sunday in 1997, Dan Sanders (lead vocals, guitar), Zoran Trivic (lead guitar), Brad Campbell (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Rob Nassif (drums) cut their teeth jamming Nirvana and Foo Fighters covers. After releasing their first set of original demo’s in 1998 the band scored support slots for international punks Millencolin and Unwritten law, as well as local favourites The Living End and 28 Days. A total of 3 EP’s were released before the band signed to Festival Mushroom Records at the beginning of 2003. This led to the release of the Midnight Express and Driving For The Storm/Doctor Doctor EP’s, both which gained national airplay and helped build momentum for their debut long player.
