Raising Nashville

On this weeks episode we're talking about the pleasure and pain of family vacations, or family trips as Old Boy refers to them.  We breakdown some stats on how much families spend on vacation per year, it's probably more than you think, and how many days on average the family vacation lasts.  Then we reminisce about our favorite childhood vacations and what we look forward to taking with our kids.  Also, we refer to Disney World as Disney Land about 50 times in the episode, so just get past that.

This week we have something for the whole family...Not good enough?!? We also cover Oldboy's encounter with the movie 'Species' and the incredible cocaine epidemic of 80's NBA players. Still not good enough?!? Well....did you know Bucky could be convinced the earth is flat? All this and more on this week's episode of Raising Nashville Podcast. On this weeks episode the guys are talking about the Christmas holiday.  We talk about the history of the holiday and how Santa Claus came to be the center of the tradition, but don't worry listeners, Juicebox does not go off about Santa being a dictator again.  We also talk about some of our own Christmas traditions, both from growing up, and the traditions we are starting with our own families. 

On this weeks episode the dads all make their families watch this years hottest Christmas movie, Noelle.  We do a quick breakdown and review of this new Christmas masterpiece (this statement is not endorsed by Oldboy) with MAJOR SPOILERS.  Then we talk about some of our all time favorite Christmas movies before  getting way too wrapped up in a discussion about whether or not Santa is a dictator. 

Pedal Taverns, a limo decked out to look like a boat, a tractor pulling a trailer, a bus with a hot tub.  Chances are, if you've been to downtown Nashville, or any other tourist trap, you've seen at least one of these slow moving vehicles, usually with drunk people hanging off yelling "Wooooo" at the top of their lungs.  This week we're discussing the "Transportainment" movement in Nashville.  We'll go through a list of all the Transportainment vehicles currently operating in our city, and come up with some of our own.  We also flew friend of the show, Shane LaRue, in from L.A. just to make him go downtown and experience a few of these slow moving, binge drinkeries and report back to us, because we sure as hell weren't going to do it.

A few weeks back, before we sat down to record our Hot Chicken episode, Bucky came rolling in, fired up about some "Haunted House" called McKamey Manor.  He proceeded to describe to Juicebox and Old Boy, in detail, the history of this "Haunt" and it's owner/proprietor Russ McKamey.   After 45 minutes of Bucky trying to convince us that he could make it through the Haunted House that no one has made it through Juicebox finally got fed up, yelling "Shut up about this stupid torture house!"  Fast forward three weeks and here we are talking about it on a podcast, much to Juicebox's displeasure.   We'll dive into some of the things that could happen to you if you decide to attempt the Manor (spoiler, it's torture), speculate on what the real point of all of this is and ponder what type of person would want to attempt this (Bucky).  Enjoy?

This week the guys are discussing bullying and what to do if your kid is being bullied, or IS the bully.  We talk about some of the warning signs to look for, and talk about some of our personal experiences with bullying and being bullied.  If you were expecting a Thanksgiving themed episode this week just, imagine the Pilgrims as bullies, which they kind of were. 

After stuffing our faces with Nashville Hot Chicken on the last episode (and dealing with the consequences), the dads decide to get healthy.  Ok, that's an overstatement, but with nearly thirty percent of kids classified as overweight or obese, it's important to discuss healthy eating habits and being mindful of what we're putting in our kid's (and our own)bodies.   But first we have to convince Bucky that this is not an intervention about his personal eating habits. 

On this weeks episode of the Raising Nashville Podcast the guys dive into the phenomenon that is "Nashville Hot Chicken".  They explore the origin story of how hot chicken was born out of a revenge plot against an alleged philanderer, and how that plan backfired into a successful restaurant enterprise.  Then it's time to get down to business and sample some hot chicken from four of the Nashville staples, Prince's, Bolton's, Pepperfire, and Hattie B's with a little help from Juicebox's better half and connoisseur of hot stuff, Dana.
