The New Normal? - Roger Meyer
22/05/2024 Duración: 03min“The new normal” is an idiom expressing that a significant change has occurred and become commonplace. For example, in the last few decades, it has become commonplace for us to use personal computers and cell phones to now do much of our shopping online. That is a new normal. Many new “normals” are emerging, but are all of them good? Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/a-new-normal

The Wrestling Match That Changed History - J. Davy Crockett III
18/05/2024 Duración: 05minWrestling is a fascinating sport involving physical strength, skill, and tenacity as combatants strive to “pin” their opponents. Professional wrestling has enjoyed popularity for generations, and it garnered $748 million dollars in revenue in 2021. This form of wrestling has been considered entertainment rather than a sport because of the sometimes-bizarre personas of the participants and the pitting of “good guys” against “villains” in carefully choreographed matches. Collegiate wrestling, however, is a legitimate sport sanctioned by the NCAA; 395 colleges across the United States participate in it, and it is a popular event in the Olympic Games. God Heals—but the Bible Also Teaches Us to Fight Disease!
15/05/2024 Duración: 05minEvery year, especially during the “flu season,” millions of people come down with a host of preventable diseases like colds, influenza, and various respiratory infections. Most of these are considered “common” illnesses and are not as impactful as unusual outbreaks in years past of diseases like SARS and Swine Flu, not to mention the ongoing struggles with MRSA and, at the time of the initial publication of this article, the major pandemic of coronavirus—which continues to shape policy and global response. To-Do and “Ta-Done” - Roger Meyer
12/05/2024 Duración: 04minWho hasn’t seen a to-do list of some kind—on the wall, on their desk or refrigerator, or in a silly cartoon with characters hustling to get things done? Many have had their daily life or work dictated by a growing list of little checked boxes, in their heads if not on paper or a spreadsheet. And quite often, the “ta-done’s” never seem to catch up to the “to-do’s” as quickly or efficiently as we might like. Full text here: https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/to-do-and-ta-done

"Excruciating... Really?" - Adam J. West
17/04/2024 Duración: 05min“That was excruciating!” We hear this statement from individuals, or from ourselves at times, after suffering an injury like breaking a bone, hammering an ill-placed thumb rather than a nail, or stubbing a big toe on the bedpost while stumbling our way through a darkened bedroom. But we might ask, “Excruciating… really?” Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/excruciating-really

In Search of Peace of Mind - J. Davy Crockett III
13/04/2024 Duración: 05minCharles Dickens (1812–1870), the popular, prolific author of Britain’s Victorian Age, penned a poignant introduction to his famous novel A Tale of Two Cities, published in 1859. Now that was a long time ago, yet his description of that time certainly fits this modern age. He wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/in-search-of-peace-of-mind

The Real Haute Couture - Roger Meyer
10/04/2024 Duración: 04minHaving fashionable clothing is nice—but is God concerned about it? What does God expect His people to wear? The Bible has more to say about how we should be clothed than one might think. Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-real-haute-couture

The Cup of the Lord - Roger Meyer
06/04/2024 Duración: 04minVery early in life, we graduate from nursing and baby bottles to a “sippy cup,” and then to a regular cup—although I do see many adults with “sippy cups” of hot coffee. But cups, like many other things in the Bible, are used as metaphors or symbols. A cup may be used as a symbol of intoxication and deception. “Pouring out” a cup may symbolize God’s wrath or punishment being meted out. On the positive side, a cup is also used as a symbol of blessings and salvation.

Is Easter Biblical? - Josh Lyons
30/03/2024 Duración: 05minThe majority of professing Christians consider Easter to be the most sacred holiday of the year, believing that it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But perhaps a simple, seldom-asked question is of vital importance: Is Easter biblical? Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/is-easter-biblical

Have We, As a Nation, Crossed the Point of No Return - J. Davy Crockett III
16/03/2024 Duración: 05minHave major events swept us past a point of no return? The dismal reality of the degradation in the United States, and many other Western nations, raises valid concerns about their survivability. Systemic cracks in America’s foundation, revealed by the combined weight of intractable problems, may bring about its collapse. Corruption Is Everywhere - Roger Meyer
07/03/2024 Duración: 05minCorruption is fraudulent conduct, criminal abuse of power for private gain, or a process of changing into something impure, improper, dishonest, and debased—and it seems to be everywhere these days. To the Strongest - Wyatt Ciesielka
17/02/2024 Duración: 05minHis ascension and conquests were rapid and furious, but his life would be brief. As was prophesied, he had made Greece the greatest empire on earth. But after subduing many nations, young Alexander the Great now lay dying in Babylon. According to one account, as Alexander approached death, one of his lieutenants asked him to whom should go the empire. He replied, “To the strongest.” Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/to-the-strongest

This is NOT Our Father's World - Wallace G. Smith
10/02/2024 Duración: 04minA much-beloved Protestant hymn asserts, “This Is My Father’s World.” The song has a beautiful melody, and the sentiment is tempting. Yet, the reality of the matter—as so pointedly shown by the many sudden and destructive events caused by natural disasters—is that our world today is not our Father’s world. "What's in It for Me?" - Roger Meyer
03/02/2024 Duración: 04minSelfless people do things for others without expecting anything in return, as we all should. But, when we consider human existence itself, it’s certainly not unreasonable to ask, “What’s in it for me?” Are the risks and rewards worth it? To live life well requires a tremendous commitment of our time and energy—is the cost and reward worth our time and energy commitment? The Joy of Small Children - Josh Lyons
27/01/2024 Duración: 05minMy wife and I are currently waging a tiring, fierce, and ongoing battle of epic proportions—with our two-year-old. He notches his share of victories as we charge the trenches of teaching him the word “no,” how to feed himself without throwing or sling-shotting his food, and how to submit to the terrible monster known as “Bedtime,” and so on. (It is tough being a toddler.) My wife and I are hopeful that we will win the war. Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-joy-of-small-children

An Overlooked Litany Of Licentiousness - J. Davy Crockett III
24/01/2024 Duración: 05minAs journalists, pundits, and podcasters survey conditions on the world scene, they analyze the threats to personal liberty, the economy, national defense, public health, and other important areas that affect their audience’s quality of life. They ponder the underlying conditions and sometimes make salient points. However, political bias often skews such commentators’ assertions and conclusions. God's "Big Ring" in the Heavens - Josh Lyons
20/01/2024 Duración: 05minIn a January 11, 2024 article titled “Huge Ring of Galaxies Challenges Thinking on Cosmos,” the BBC describes how PhD student Alexia Lopez, of the University of Central Lancashire, recently discovered a gigantic, ring-shaped structure composed of galaxies and galaxy clusters. And when they say it is gigantic, they mean it—as in, one of the largest stellar “objects” known to exist! Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/gods-big-ring-in-the-heavens

"Do You Have Ears To Hear?" - Adam J. West
06/01/2024 Duración: 04min“I’m sorry. Could you repeat that?” Anyone who suffers from hearing loss has surely said this on more than one occasion. Hearing is a fascinating gift, and not to be taken for granted, for those who still possess it. Of the five senses (touch, taste, vision, smell, and hearing), hearing gives us continual input of dynamic and vital information. What can we learn from the miracle of hearing? Is there spiritual significance to this understanding? Full text here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/do-you-have-ears-to-hear

Jailbirds - J. Davy Crockett III
03/01/2024 Duración: 05minMost people have not been inside a jail. It’s not a place that anyone in their right mind wants to be. Yet, jails are filling up and new ones can’t be built fast enough. Local, state, and federal penal systems are strained beyond capacity, and they struggle for increases in their budgets to meet the demands placed upon their institutions. Opportunities! - J. Davy Crockett III
27/12/2023 Duración: 05minIt seems that when opportunity knocks, many don’t recognize it, because it is disguised as work. Some think that opportunity is actually “luck.” Yet, this “luck” seems to follow those who work hard, fulfilling their obligations and commitments. With the workplace in transition because of modern methods, new technology, and changing markets, many fail to keep up with the changing times in their field and are left behind, missing opportunities. Change is relentless, and a willingness to adapt and constantly learn and train is required. This is not new, but the pace of change has accelerated dramatically—leaving many behind.
