  • Episode 228 - The Ads Dont Work

    02/06/2023 Duración: 23min

This week i get on my trolly horse again to talk adverts. But no so much how evil it is or how they try to subtly manipulate the day to day but more about how generationally we react differently to them. How as a society we alter our perception of media and how that results in some interesting behaviour person to person. So settle in as we talk capitalism, graphic design, tik tok, media, television and get all nostalgic about what makes a good advert and how fake shocked reactions are the new cancer of content.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. 19/05/2023 Duración: 01h13min

Want to know how to make things? Well have I got the guest for you! Dan Does know how to make things, lots of things. Mainly horrific terrifying things but still...Things. How we got into it and have an honest chin wag about the state of situations within the wider world all under the guise of some sort of comedy podcast. Dans great and would happily have him back to chat so go Likanscribe to his work over on his channel and follow his other platforms as well as I thin he's going to go bloody far.https://www.youtube.com/ @Dan_Does  https://www.patreon.com/Dan_doesItuneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellinga

  • Episode 226 - The concept of clothing

    12/05/2023 Duración: 23min

This week I sit down to talk clothes. Having been told that every sidewalk in Manhattan is a runway it's been on my mind and clothing concepts and me have a long history. Having been alternative and still in many ways am I've found through the years what you wear has a strong impact on what you're putting out but at the same time I pay very little attention to what I put on.So lets talk clothes, concept and comfort and dive in the laundry basket of conceptual clothing.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. • Episode 225 - Simple lets you focus on the subject Feat Graham Annabele

    05/05/2023 Duración: 58min

This week I had a real privilege of catching up with Graham Annabele. Whether he knew it or not joining the call I'm a big fan of his work and as I found the more I researched him I've been a fan longer than I thought! Having worked on old game titles like Curse of Monkey Island, Sam and Max and created his own original works in the form of comics and cartoons such as Grickle. One of the main things he's known for however is his work with stop motion film company Laika having been director of The Box Trolls and worked in various roles on Kubo, Pinocchio and Coraline. So I was plum blushed when I was able to get an hour with him so we could talk, animation, concept in creation and dive into how style and messages can be communicated through work in various ways. We discuss his upcoming new horror book for middle schoolers and overall have a lovely chat about what it means to be Graham's.You should definetly check out his work in films, comics and show him all the love.https://www.grickle.com/https://twitter.com

  • Episode 224 - Everyone is awful in their 20's

    21/04/2023 Duración: 21min

Look at that kid, he's a self reflective little tyke isn't he? It's true and I don't mean to throw shade at anyone in their twenties as we get it! You're going through some stuff you're figuring out life, you're meant to be!This episode I sit down to discuss how growing personally never really ends and you go through stages of thinking your cracked it until suddenly you find a new level, another time and space where suddenly you're out of your depth and don't know what's going on. Is it bad? Is it good? Who knows but we grow as people and reflect on what we did. That's the key part.Sincerely someone with a problematic early adulthood.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. • Episode 223 - Never make vague songs about summer. Feat Alyssa Payne

    14/04/2023 Duración: 01h02min

This week I sit down with musical prodigy Alyssa Payne who caught my attention with her song "Chicken & Horse" and then released a musical EP! which I thought was a fascinating as a concept to have a mixtape/e.p for a musical. Turns out it got even better as it's fully of dramatic, funny, slice of life songs about the world around us especially those who are younger. Alyssa is a burgeoning actress, musician and being into the art world and figuring it out as she goes along so I caught up with her to talk. Musicals of course but also the writing process. How plays get created and what it means to be creating in that industry and how people put their own experiences into bigger productions. You can find her albumhttps://music.apple.com/us/album/patiently-waiting-epAnd her on tiktok/insta/youtube here:https://www.tiktok.com/@alyssathepayne99https://www.youtube.com/@Alyssathepayne/videoshttps://www.instagram.com/alyssathepayneYou can just listen to the show here:Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yel

  • Episode 222 - Objectively Everything is stupid.

    07/04/2023 Duración: 24min

That right we're looking at face value of things. Because the world is simple on it's face, this is a man in a room talking about the thing right? Well I know it's not that simple but when you notice these simplicities you can start to do more with the information you do have. Recognise the important parts and the parts which mean more to you as there is less noise when you simplify the value of each object and interaction. So let us talk and decide just realistically is everything stupid?Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast. 10/03/2023 Duración: 27min

This week I sit down to talk about the boogey man in the room AI "art". Now if you don't know about it and want to know how AI "art" works there is a very good legal and technical break down in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv9cdTh8cUo by Corridor Crew who are a visual effects company and I suggest you watch that for an in-depth of the tech whilst I cover the moral and conceptual implications of it all.So that's right! we're here to talk about stable diffusion and all the other tech tools which have come to surge upon the world in the last few months. I'll be covering this from the tool creation side but also looking at how from a fine art perspective this affects the work made and really the potential impact it could have on how we make and see work.Should we be using it? Probably not. Will it stop anyone and companies exploiting the tech? No. Will it ruin Art? Remains to be scene but probably not considering most of it wouldn't class as art...You may agree or disagree, lukcily for me art is sub

  • Episode 214 - The discomfort of Change

    13/01/2023 Duración: 20min

This week I sit down to talk about holding onto the branch, holding on to the semblance of normal even when it becomes uncomfortable because change is a difficult process. Maybe the new year has brought the thought maybe it's the change of the seasons but it's good to review and remember that if you deal with anything long enough the body gets used to it even if that "it" is uncomfortable. So be brave and remember that you can change things gradually you just have to be prepared to accept the changes you make.Ituneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yelling-at-concrete/id1238765054Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/3T2OhYE07edgaBDXrm86saAcasthttps://shows.acast.com/yellingatconcreteYou can support the show and Graham by visitingwww.instagram.com/yellingatconcretewww.yellingatconcrete.bigcartel.comwww.ko-fi.com/yellingatconcrete Hosted on Acast.
