In a light way which doesn't make you want to just throw a brick through a window.I think emotional outbursts are a right, it's a balance of being human and whilst it's good to encourage people who are going through tough things and provide them support the last thing you want to hear in that state is "cheer up". This week I catch up with Natal who is the founder editor and Chief of Bi-pan Magazine which a completely free paperless online Zine focused on Bipoc and Queer media.I met Natal though Coke-Oven.com when she submitted her work to me and was instantly taken in by the very open nature of the Bipan magazine project and how it's working to bring more representation to the world but also looking to help inform those who may not have had the opportunity to learn. This week I got a little blown away to be able to get in touch with a musician I've been following for a long old while now and that is Mega Ran! Raheem Jarbo under his stage name Mega Ran is a rapper, hip hop artist, DJ, producer...you name it he's done it. Having been around in the game of music and art for years he's a regular on my playlist and is heavily known in the chiptune, nerdcore communities but is also deeply immersed in the underground rap scene an artist firmly with a foot in two world we establish. This week I get further Zine focused as i get to sit down with Zine distro owner and founder of Phoenix zine fest Charissa Lucille. Charissa runs a zine distro in a physical location in Arizona a place which acts as a community space with the focus of being accessible and uplifting for the QTBIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled and chronically ill, neurodivergent within the area and farther afield!Charissa is an multimedia artist in their own right and setup Wasted Ink to fill a gap in the area which needed a cathartic and safe outlet for these communities. This week I get to sit back and chat with comic creator Lucy Sullivan Lucy's work i discovered during Hackney Zine fest and her book "Barking" and quickly fell for it. She has a powerful style and creates fantastic art work about subjects which really cut to the core of humanity. We caught up to talk not only her work in comic but animation and the challenges within creating something like a graphic novel. Whilst all touching on what she terms this idea of being "A difficult women". That brings its own challenges in an industry which has been dominated by men and is still struggling at times to find a balance of representation.
