One of Éire Óg's key men says they're confident of maintaining their 100% record in this year's TUS Clare Senior Football Championship and securing the county title in the process. The Townies are aiming to be the first side since Cratloe in 2014 to secure a senior championship double, when they face Doora/Barefield in the final on Sunday afternoon. Victory would see Shane Daniel's charges retain the title they won 12 months ago and secure Jack Daly for the fourth time this decade. Corner back, Dean Ryan, says although they can take confidence from their Cusack Cup victory over the same opposition, they can't afford to rest on their laurels. Meanwhile, Doora Barefield will turn to youth to help see them get their hands on Jack Daly. Captain Darragh O'Shea says they're hopeful they can finally turn recent underage success into a senior county title.

There’s strong Clare interest in Treaty United Women’s U19 Cup Final taking place next Sunday, October 12th, in Athlone, as the side takes on Bohemians. It’s a huge occasion for women’s soccer, with several Clare players represented across Treaty’s under-17, under-19, and senior squads. Alan Morrissey was delighted to chat with Irene Hehir from Ennis, Team Manager, Sadbh Griffin from Ballynacally and Saoirse Kent from Connolly, players & Colaiste Muire students on Tuesday's Morning Focus.

The Government is being urged to sanction Israel after 15 Irish citizens were detained as part of the Gaza aid flotilla. Those detainees are making their way home after being deported from Israel yesterday. Global Movement to Gaza Éire, the group supporting the flotilla here, say the participants will be reunited with their families and supported when they land. VAT cuts for the hospitality and construction sectors headline a budget that will prioritise business over the pockets of individual voters. A Clare haulier claims people in his line of work aren't being given any incentives to embrace sustainable fuel alternatives. The Irish Road Haulage AssocIation claims its industry is being "strangled by excessive taxation" and is calling on the Government to implement a number of measures in the Budget to ensure its survival. Among these is the introduction of a rebate on the non-fossil fuel component of diesel. Former IRHA President, Ennis haulier Eugene Drennan, says they don't feel as if they're getting value for money.

Éire Óg boss Gerry O'Connor says his side deserve huge credit for handling the emotion of a tough week and claiming the county title. The Townies ended a 35 year wait between drinks with a five point defeat of Clooney Quin. The victory also sees Éire Óg into the Munster Club Championship, which they'll begin by facing the winners of the Tipperary championship. O'Connor says winning the battle around the middle third was pivotal to their success. Meanwhile, 2024 Hurler of the Year, Shane O'Donnell, says it's incredibly special to witness the outpouring of relief from Éire Óg supporters.

A Clare Fianna Fáil TD has defended his party's presidential election candidate selection process which he says isn't a "police force" but admits members "feel let down". Jim Gavin has backed out of the race for the Áras following reports that he owes a former tenant €3,300. Fianna Fáil MEP Billy Kelleher, who sought the party's nomination in August, has described the debacle as a "very serious miscalculation by the party leadership, while its Deputy Leader Jack Chambers says there'll be a meeting to "discuss the campaign". Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons he believed in his "heart and soul" that Jim Gavin was the right man for the job.

Clare musicians are uniting for a musical performance inspired by the climate crisis in collaboration with a Nova Scotian artist. The hugely popular fundraising event, ‘Swim in Pink’, celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. Taking place this month as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event encourages participants across the country to dip, swim, or splash in support of breast cancer research.
