Live Delay is 4ZZZ FM / ZED Digitals premier live music roundup.Traversing the lucky continents feverish live music scene, we close in and showcase a particular Australian zone each week, chewing away at some very special live recordings of independent artists.Made collaboratively with the assistance of many live-wired Australian community broadcasters, Live Delay is produced at 4ZZZ, Brisbane and distributed nationally by Community Radio Network, and in South East Asia by Frequency Asia.Catch brand new episodes every Saturday at 4pm on the Community Radio Network, every Sunday at 7pm on Zed Digital, and every Monday at 6pm on Frequency Asia. 18/06/2017 Duración: 55minSummer Flake: Summer Flake is the lush, harmony-laden solo project of Stephanie Crase, whose DNA runs through the best Adelaide indie pop of the last ten years – from No Through Road and Birth Glow, through to Hit The Jackpot and Batrider. She released her debut album ‘You Can Have It All’ in 2013 and followed it up with the ‘Time Rolls By’ EP in 2015 and ‘Hello Friends’ EP in 2016, which were all released through the Sydney-based label Rice Is Nice Records. California Girls: California Girls is a one-man operation driven by the one and only Gus McGrath and hails from the nation’s capital. Described as straight-up dance music, California Girls has two releases to its name, 2014’s ‘Age Of Consent’ EP and 2016’s ‘Desire’ album, which was put out through Canberra’s Moontown Records in a limited quantity and sold out immediately. 18/06/2017 Duración: 55minThe Vines: The foundation of The Vines can be traced back to the southern suburbs of Sydney when Craig Nicholls met Patrick Matthews and David Olliffe in 1994 and started a band called Rishikesh. The name kept being misspelt wherever it was mentioned, so Craig suggested to change the name to ‘The Vines’ in honour of the band that his father played in back in the 60’s, also called The Vynes. 2001 would be the year that things started to fall into place for the band. Travelling to Los Angeles to record their debut album ‘Highly Evolved’, they had record labels climbing over each other to get the band’s signature. The album came out in July 2002 and music publications world wide were holding the band up as “the new saviours of rock”. Their highly anticipated 2nd album came out in March 2004 under the title ‘Winning Days’ and had mixed reviews from critics and fans at the time. 28/05/2017 Duración: 55minScott & Charlene's Wedding: Lo-fi darlings Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, which is the brainchild of Craig Dermody, and has also featured members of Bushwalking, Peak Twins and Beaches during its existence. The Neighbours-touting name aside, the music of Scott & Charlene's Wedding was always an intrinsically Australian affair. Their debut album Para Vista Social Club came out in 2010 and the album title is a reference to the Adelaide suburb Para Vista where frontman, songwriter and sole constant member Craig spent his youth. 2013 saw the release of their 2nd record ‘Any Port In A Storm’ through Fire Records in the UK and their third record ‘Mid Thirties Single Scene’ came out in late 2016 to rousing acclaim from critics. Formerly one half of indie-rock duo The Furrs, Cohen has taken off in a more eclectic pop route with her solo project work. She released her EP ‘Updated Regurgitated Server’ in 2015 independently, which was supported by singles ‘I Don’t Feel So Alive’, and ‘Feelin’ Fine’. Her debut full length, ‘Full Closure and No Details’ came in 2016, and was supported with national touring and a BIGSOUND slot. His first record ‘Don’t Hold Back’ came out in 2011 and cemented his style as an artist. His second record ‘Electric Love’ came out shortly after in 2012 and ireleased 2014’s ‘Weekend At Donny’s’, which contained much more of the material Benet is well known for. Their latest record, 2016’s ‘Joy’ was released to critical acclaim and garnered them their 2nd shortlist nomination for the Australian Music Prize. Made up of Joel, Mitch, John and Peter, the newly formed Canberra band have gained a following purely from the live shows, even without a studio EP out. Recorded at Blackwire Records in Sydney on the 5th of March 2017. Morte Lenta: Next up is Morte Lenta, which translates to Slow Death from Italian, and are a multicultural collaboration. With English, Spanish and Brazilian influences melded together, the Sydney band (who only formed in 2016) use dark influences and punk riffs to create a unique vibe. Reborn from the ashes of Tasmanian band Little Ugly Girls, their lineup started with Linda J on vocals and guitar, Bean on guitar and backups, and ‘Pops’ on traps. Their dynamic live shows have earned them support slots for many high profile artists, such as Rowland S Howard, The Drones, and Eddy Current Suppression Ring. 2009 saw Linda J win the best female vocalist award at the Victorian Music Awards and also saw The Dacios release their debut album, Monkey’s Blood which then saw the band tour extensively. 15/04/2017 Duración: 56minThe Nation Blue: Born in Tasmania in 1996, The Nation Blue have spent the past two decades putting on the most intense live performances and writing about some of the bleakest subjects about living in Australia that most people are afraid to touch upon. The 2000’s were quite busy for the band, pumping out 4 albums and touring relentlessly around the country and overseas. The members took a break from the band in the early 2010’s to play in other projects such as Harmony, High Tension & King Cannons. After agreeing to get back together to record a song for the Tym Records 7” singles club in 2013, they started to slowly fill up a bag with songs and themes that they wanted to sing about. Over two sessions between 2015 to 2016, they escaped to a hall in Kyneton, Victoria with Mike Deslandes and recorded 30 songs, which turned into two albums that were released on the same day in October 2016 through Poison City Records, titled , Black and Blue. The band rose to prominence in 2005 with their album ‘Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By’, which won them the inaugural Australian Music Prize. Since then, The Drones have had a long career cementing them as Australian icons, playing festivals such as Big Day Out, Laneway Festival, Falls Festival and A Day On The Green, as well as extensive international touring. Reaching iconic status in 2007 when inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, the Gurus were acknowledged as being one of the most inventive, lyrically smart and exciting bands of their time. The style is an eclectic fusion of 60s power pop, wild garage punk, hard rock and psychedelic kitsch, and this crazy combo is what helps to cement their iconic, unique style.
