As an orphan, Assane became obsessed with the book of the fictional character of Arsene Lupin, a highly intelligent and skillful "Gentleman and Thief."  Graham & Jocelyn wonder how the legend of Lupin has not made it into the English-speaking consciousness given the similarities of Lupin to other characters in the English-speaking folklore such as Robin Hood, Simon Templar, and even Sherlock Holmes.
