The Red Sox go into the All-Star Break a season-high 11 games over .500 with Sunday's 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.  Sox dropped the opener Friday night, won the next two and have won 4 straight series.  The Sox were down 1-0 just four pitches into the game with Brayan Bello giving up a home run to the Royals leadoff hitter, Adam Frazier.  Bello responded nicely but retiring the next 3 hitters.  Bello allowed a single to Hunter Renfroe in the 2nd inning, but he was thrown out at 2nd by left-fielder Tyler O'Neill trying to stretch a single into a double.  Rafael Devers gave the Red Sox their first lead of the afternoon with a 2-out, 2-run Home Run in the bottom of the 1st inning off of starting pitcher Brady Singer.  It was Dever's 2nd home run of the series and 23rd on the year.  Dominic Smith made it 4-1 with a 2-run Home Run in the 2nd inning. The Red Sox got another strong pitching performance from Kutter Crawford and Dominic Smith collected 2 hits and a pair of RBIs in helping the Red Sox to a 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Sox even the series up at 1-1 and will go for the series in the final game before the All-Star Break on Sunday.Red Sox table setters Jarren Duran and David Hamilton got things going in the home first inning against Seth Lugo, but the Sox failed to score.  Duran doubled to get things going and Hamilton walked but they were stranded at 2nd and 3rd.  The Sox broke through in the 2nd against Lugo.  Smith reached with a 1-out single and scored all the way from 1st on a double from Reese McGuire.  In the 3rd inning, the Red Sox scored 3 more runs against Lugo.  Wilyer Abreu with a ground-run double and that plated Masa Yoshida.  Smith then made it 4-0 with a 2-run single.  Rafael Devers hit his 22nd home run of the season in the 5th inning and that made it 5-0.  Crawford imp

Tanner Houck turned in a quality outing and the Red Sox bats got going early in what turned into a 7-0 win over the Oakland A's Thursday night at Fenway Park.  The Sox took 2 of 3 from the A's and won 5 of the 6 regular season meetings between the 2 clubs.  The Red Sox got on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning against Luis Medina.  Jarren Duran led off with a walk and went 1st to 3rd on a double from David Hamilton.  Tyler O'Neill and Rafael Devers both struck out.  Connor Wong walked to keep the inning alive and that loaded the bases.  Masa Yoshida came through with a 2-out, 2-run single and Wilyer Abreu made it 3-0 with an RBI double.Connor Wong belted a solo Home Run in the 3rd inning to make it 4-0.  It's his 8th of the season.    All-Star Tanner Houck made the start in the series finale against the A's.  Houck picked up the win against the A's in his first start of the season back in early April and picked up the victory, his 8th, Thursday night.  Houck did not allow a hit until the 5t

The Red Sox had opportunities at home at Fenway Wednesday night against the Oakland A's but came up short in losing, 5-2. Series is even at 1-1 with the finale Thursday night. Nick Pivetta, who struck out 8 straight batter at one point and finished with 10 strikeouts, allowed 4 earned runs and he was tagged with the loss. All 4 runs that the A's scored against Pivetta (3 in the 3rd and 1 in the 7th) came with 2 outs in the inning. Sox left the bases loaded in the 1st inning against winning pitcher JP Sears, who allowed a solo Home Run to Rob Refsnyder in the 6th inning and that was it over 5.2 innings of work. Red Sox had the bases loaded with 2 outs in the 7th and settled for only 1 run. Tyler O'Neill reached on an infield single that scored the runner from 3rd-base. The Red Sox scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning and the first 10 outs recorded by starting pitcher Brayan Bello were via the strikeout Tuesday night in a series-opening 12-9 win over the Oakland A's at Fenway Park. Bello gave up 2 runs in the first inning, but also struck out 3 in his first inning of work. The A's lead was short-lived. Jarren Duran led off the home first with a double and he scored on an RBI single by David Hamilton. Tyler O'Neill's double put runners at 2nd & 3rd and both runners scored on a 2-run single by Rafael Devers. Joey Estes retired the next 3 batters and Devers was stranded at 2nd-base. The Red Sox wrapped up their series against the Yankees Sunday night and took the series, 2 games to 1, with a 3-0 win in the series finale.  Kutter Crawford was terrific, tossing 7 scoreless innings and picking up his 5th win of the season and his 2nd against the Yankees.  Crawford allowed 4 hits, walked no one and struck out 7.  He threw 68 total pitches and 54 for strikes.The game was scoreless until the top of the 7th inning.  Rafael Devers went the opposite way against Luis Gil for his 2nd Home Run of the Series and his 20th on the season and the solo shot put the Red Sox up, 1-0.  Ceddanne Rafaela made it 2-0 in the 8th with his 2nd Home Run of the Series and 11th on the year.  Devers made it 3-0 with his 2nd Home Run of the night in the top of the 9th inning.  Devers with his 16th career Home Run at Yankee Stadium. The Sox hit 7 Home Runs in the Series.  Boston did not go deep in taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees at Fenway Park in June.Justin Slaten gave up a 1-out walk in the 8th, but nothing else in wor

The Red Sox had 3 different streaks come to an end with Saturday's 14-4 loss to the Yankees.  Weekend series in the Bronx is even at 1-1.  The Red Sox had their 5-game win streak come to an end as well as a 6-game road win streak.  The Sox missed out on improving to 10 games over .500 for the first time this season and saw their 5-game win streak at Yankee Stadium end.     Red Sox were up a run going to the bottom of the 5th inning and when the frame was over, the Yankees put up 7 runs and led by 6 runs.  Massachusetts native Ben Rice (Cohasset, MA) led off the home 1st with a home run against Josh Winckowski and then capped New York's 7-run 5th with his 2nd Home Run of the game, a 3-run blase off of reliever Chase Anderson.  Rice added his 3rd HR of the game, a 2nd 3-R Home Run off Chase Anderson in the 7th inning.  That made it 14-4.  Rice 3 Home Runs and 7 RBIs.  Rafael Devers collected his 1000th career hit in the Big Leagues with an RBI single off Gerrit Cole in the 3rd and that tied the game at 1-1.  Ma

The Red Sox opened up their 3-game weekend series in New York with a thrilling 5-3 comeback win in 10 innings over the Yankees Friday night.  Boston used the long ball late in the game to tie it up and eventually win it.The Red Sox were down to their final strike in the top of the 9th when Masa Yoshida hit a 2-out, 2-run Home Run off of Yankees closer Clay Holmes. The Red Sox celebrated our Nation's Birthday on Thursday afternoon by completing a series sweep over the Marlins in Miami.  Sox improved to 8 games over .500 for the first time this season with a 6-5, 12-inning victory in the finale.  Neither team scored in the 10th. Sox got two in the top of the 11th and the Marlins did the same in the bottom of the 11th.
